Managing Across Borders in Times of Uncertainty – Sustainability and Digital Transformation - SGH Warsaw School of Economics, March 13, 2026

The international business environment has shifted from turbulence to hyper‑volatility, with geopolitical tensions, deglobalisation and rapid technological change reshaping how firms operate across borders. Digital transformation and the rise of AI create new opportunities, but also generate concerns around cybersecurity, data protection and organisational dehumanisation. At the same time, younger generations entering the labour market introduce new expectations and behavioural patterns affecting global work dynamics. These dynamics heighten the importance of building resilient, adaptive, and secure enterprises capable of functioning and growing in complex and uncertain environments. Academic researchers and business practitioners alike face the task of understanding these transformations and developing new frameworks to navigate them effectively.

Scope of the Seminar

The seminar focuses on the challenges and opportunities faced by international enterprises operating amid uncertainty, with particular attention to sustainability, digital transformation, human capital, and global investment dynamics. The discussions will address both the external and internal dimensions of organisational security and competitiveness.

The thematic areas include:

  • Human capital development, soft skills, and transversal competences in international environments
  • Digitalisation, robotisation, and their impact on operations and organisational humanisation
  • Sustainable development in international enterprises
  • Megatrends and foresight in shaping the future of global business
  • International investment flows, including round tripping FDI
  • Digital competitiveness of firms
  • Digital transformation in healthcare and industry
  • The role of blockchain, data integrity, and technological innovation in global health systems
Spatial concentration of industries and access to healthcare in the EU

Participants will explore theoretical perspectives, empirical research, and practical implications relevant to building resilient and future oriented international organisations.
