Orientation week and Buddy programme

Information about Orientation Week and buddy system for incoming exchange students

To give students a kick-start on the study-abroad period at SGH, the staff of the International Centre, supported by the team of the Erasmus Student Network (fellow SGH students), offers a three-day Orientation programme.

Over the years, SGH in cooperation with the ESN has built an extensive “Buddy system”. It is an arrangement where exchange students are assisted by local Buddies through their exchange period in Poland.

Orientation Week
  • Both in September and February, just before each semester starts, we invite all exchange and freemover students to attend our welcome sessions that give an introduction to SGH and Poland.
  • Daytime activities cover official meetings with SGH representatives, cross-cultural workshops, Survival Polish class, lecture on Polish culture & history, mingle sessions and city tour, most of them being compulsory as they provide crucial knowledge on the host country and our university.
  • Every afternoon and evening, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) offers a number of events such as karaoke night, urban games or dress-up parties, which are designed to let students interact and integrate. Those activities are optional, and we encourage students to take part and fully enjoy the study-abroad experience.
