Information on nomination and application for exchange students coming to SGH for a study period within exchange programs such as Erasmus+, bilateral agreements, CEMS MIM and PIM

Welcome to SGH Warsaw School of Economics! We are delighted that you are coming to study with us!

While planning to come to Warsaw as an exchange student, you can rely on us, International Centre, to assist you with all the matters connected with your exchange. We will do our best to make you feel at home!

The Incoming Student Office (ISO), being part of SGH International Center, handles matters of incoming exchange students at SGH. The office provides administrative support and assistance on non-academic matters.

Please note, that all academic matters such as recognition of your study plan abroad, transcripts, Learning Agreements are managed by the Dean’s Office relevant for your level of studies.

Nomination

After being selected by home university for exchange at SGH, student should be nominated via form sent to student’s local coordinator. Together with the form partner university receives instructions to share with the nominee(s) on how to make an application in the SGH’s recruitment system.

Nomination periods:

  • Fall (Winter) Semester & full Academic Year: February 13th - April 10th
  • Spring Semester: August 13th - October 10th

SGH does not specify any selection conditions for a potential exchange student. Already through nomination partner university ensures that nominated student has a strong academic preparation and appropriate language skills.

However, to attend some courses certain prerequisites have to be met. These should be indicated in course syllabuses available in SGH USOS system:

Partner university must also ensure that the nominated student has a suitable command of the English (or Polish) language. The minimum required level is B2 on the CEFR scale which corresponds to one of the below certificates:

  • CAE (grade C)
  • FCE (grade A)
  • TOEFL iBT 79
  • IELTS 6.0
  • TOEIC 750.

Provision of a language certificate is not required for the application process for exchange students, except for Freemovers.

Please note: If your home university is NOT our partner, you may only apply for the Freemover program (tuition-based).

Application
  • Nominated student receives an e-mail from SGH and home coordinator with information on the application procedure. 
  • The student completes the application form as instructed.
  • Application periods:
    • Fall (Winter) Semester & full Academic Year: February 13th - April 19th
    • Spring Semester: August 13th - October 19th
  • Letter of Acceptance is sent to the student’s home university within a month of the application system deadline.
  • Non–EU students who apply for on-campus accommodation will also be sent an accommodation confirmation for visa purposes.
  • In order to apply for on-campus accommodation, the student should apply for it through the application system by either 19th of April or 19th of October depending on the semester of exchange.
  • The number of places in the dorm is limited (50); thus, priority in room assignment is given to students from non-European universities. The remaining places are assigned on a “first-come, first-serve” basis.
