Master double degree program between SGH Warsaw School of Economics and EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht – EBS (Wiesbaden, Germany)

This double degree program is available to full-time students of SGH and EBS within “Zarządzanie” (Management) at SGH and “Management” at EBS.

EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht

The private EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht​ in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel was founded in 1971. The university’s activities focus on 3 core areas: undergraduate, postgraduate programs and executive education. The EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht has the right to award doctorate and habilitations.

Program structure
  • The intended period of study for the double degree is two years (4 semesters). 
  • Double degree students will spend their first year at their “home institution”, the second year at the “host institution”.
  • Double degree students will have access to courses and enjoy the same rights and obligations and be subject to the same rules and regulations as the regular graduate students in the corresponding master study track of the “host institution”. 
  • Students should have access at the “host institution” only for the parts of the study program that will be carried out under the responsibility of the “host institution”.

  • Due to the regulations governing writing the master thesis at EBS both universities agreed that students will be writing their master theses at EBS which is worth 24 ECTS.

OBLIGATIONS BY AND FOR SGH

  • SGH students study their 1st year at SGH and their 2nd year at EBS.
  • In order to be awarded a master’s degree from SGH, SGH students have to provide proof of at least 4 weeks of internship/work placement during their 2nd degree studies. SGH students will be awarded 3 ECTS for the internship.
  • Required workload at SGH: courses (60 ECTS) during their 1st year at SGH.

OBLIGATIONS BY AND FOR EBS

  • EBS students study their 1st year at EBS and their 2nd year at SGH.
  • In order to be awarded a master’s degree from EBS, EBS students have to provide proof of at least 10 weeks of internship/work placement during or after their first degree studies to be enrolled to the program. In addition EBS students will be awarded 9 ECTS for the mandatory internship within the program.
  • EBS will provide German language courses at elementary and advanced levels to the exchange students.
  • Master Thesis at EBS (24 ECTS).
  • Required workload at EBS: courses (57 ECTS) during their 1st year at EBS.
Selection and application
  • The double degree candidates must satisfy all admission requirements of the host institution, including language proficiency requirements, GMAT and good knowledge on Bachelor level of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Statistics.
  • All double degree candidates must provide evidence of a satisfactory level of language proficiency according to the requirements of the Common European Framework (CEF):
    • students from SGH as their home institution – TOEFL (min. 100iBT) or IELTS (min. 6.5)
    • students from EBS as their home institution – English B2 (or higher).
  • In order to be enrolled to the program SGH students have to provide proof of at least 10 weeks internship/work placement during or after their first degree studies.
  • ​According to the Rules and Regulations of selection for international programs and exchanges at SGH, all students accepted for double diploma programs are not allowed to apply for any other exchange or program that involves mobility abroad in the given academic year. It especially refers to Erasmus, PIM and bilateral exchanges and international programs like CEMS MIM.

DEADLINE FOR DELIVERING APPLICATIONS 2023 – to be announced

Documents required from the SGH candidates to double degree program include (all documents should be prepared in English):

  • Application form (in MS Forms - published before application period)
  • A motivation letter addressed to Selection Commission to double degree program between EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht and SGH Warsaw School of Economics (in English, max. 1 page)
  • CV of the Applicant in the Europass format
  • GMAT certificate  – in case a candidate does not possess such a certificate he/she can be conditionally accepted by the time of acquiring GMAT. 
  • Copy of the BA diploma
  • Official course transcript or diploma supplement with grades received (in English)
  • Copy of TOEFL (min. 100 iBT) certificate or IELTS (min. 6.5)
  • The first draft of the study program (preferred field of study/study path, list of academic interests, etc.)
