14:30–15:45 – Panel II: Security, Defence, and Global Strategy in the EU–UK Relationship: Implications for Poland
This joint session will merge the debates on the implementation of the 2025 EU–UK Strategic Partnership (including its security and defence dimension) and on the UK’s evolving global posture (AUKUS, Indo-Pacific, and transatlantic partnerships). The discussion will examine how these two strands of policy intersect — shaping the 2026 TCA review, the broader European security environment, and Poland’s strategic interests.
Key Questions:
- How does the 2025 EU–UK Strategic Partnership redefine the scope of cooperation in foreign, security, and defence policy?
- How can its mechanisms (e.g., coordination on sanctions, cyber, hybrid threats, or defence technology) be linked with the TCA’s institutional structures?
- How does the UK’s global engagement — including AUKUS and the U.S.–UK Technology and Trade Partnership — affect Europe’s strategic environment and Poland’s position?
- What opportunities exist for Poland and the EU to ensure complementarity between transatlantic, Indo-Pacific, and European security frameworks?
- How can lessons from Anglo-American cooperation help strengthen EU–UK–Polish collaboration in technology and defence?
Speakers:
- Dr Zuzana Kasáková, Department of European Studies, Institute of International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague
- Dr Aleksandra Kozioł, European Security Analyst, PISM
- Dr Ryszarda Formuszewicz, Coordinator of the “Polish-German Dialogue” Project, Institute for Western Affairs in Poznan
