on the rules of conduct in case of changing the field of study  - changing the Major

Pursuant to paragraph 32 of the Rules and Regulations of first-cycle, second-cycle and long-cycle studies at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, I establish the following rules for changing the Major:

  • The Major may be changed after passing all the courses and obtaining ECTS credits for the first semester of studies, and in the case of students of semesters II and III - after passing all the courses and obtaining ECTS credits for the semester during which the application is submitted.
  • A change may only be made to a Major conducted in the same language as the current Major.
  • Both in the case of full-time and part-time studies, the change may only take place between Majors of study for which the same entrance examination is valid.
  • When assessing the sameness of the entrance examination, the recruitment criteria in the academic year in which the change is to take place are considered.
  • The consent to change the Major is issued by the Dean after considering:
    • the number of students studying in particular Majors,
    • the possibility of increasing the number of students attending major courses.
  • The Dean’s decision becomes effective on the first day of the semester following the one during which the application was submitted.
  • An application to the Dean, containing a request for a change of Major, should be submitted via the USOSweb system, within the time limit specified by the Dean and published on the Graduate Studies office website.
  • The application should include:
    • information about the Major in which the applicant is currently enrolled,
    • information about the Major to which the applicant would like to transfer,
    • justification for the application.
  • Applying for a change of Major does not release the student from the obligation to participate in the process of submitting a semester declaration in accordance with the current Major.
  • After the decision to change the Major enters into force; the student is obliged to immediately contact an employee of the dean’s office regarding the update of the declared list of courses. The new list of  courses must comply with the requirements of the changed Major.
