CONFERMENT OF SCIENTIFIC DEGREES
In the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the doctor degree in disciplines, in which the University has the rights to confer this degree, is conferred by:
- Academic Councils – appointed in disciplines, in which the University has rights to confer the doctor degree, if they are composed of at least twelve academic teachers employed at the SGH as the basic workplace on a position of a professor or a University professor;
- Senate of the SGH – in the case the academic council does not fulfil the condition referred to in point 1;
- Senate of the SGH – in the case the procedure for conferment of a degree in the area of science;
The doctor with a habilitation degree in disciplines, in which the University has the rights to confer this degree, is conferred by:
- Academic Councils – appointed in disciplines, in which the University has rights to confer the doctor with a habilitation degree, if they are composed of at least twelve academic teachers employed at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics as the basic workplace on a position of a professor or a University professor;
- Senate of the SGH – in the case the academic council does not fulfil the condition referred to in point 1;
COUNCILS OF SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINES
In compliance with paragraph 56 of the Statute of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the council of a scientific discipline is a body relevant for conferring scientific degrees at the University.
The following councils of scientific disciplines composed of employees with at least a doctor with a habilitation degree were established at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
- Economics and Finance Academic Council
- Academic Council on Management and Quality Sciences
- Academic Council on Political and Administration Sciences
The tenure of the council of a scientific discipline lasts 4 years and starts on 1 September of the year of elections and ends on 31 August of the last year of the tenure. The Council teams are composed of representatives of collegia.

The Economics and Finance Academic Council is a collegiate body of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics appointed in compliance with par. 56 and par. 57 of the Statute of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and with regard to Article 28 par. 4 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2020, items 85, 374, 695 and 875).
The Council confers a doctor degree and a doctor with a habilitation degree in the area of social sciences, in the discipline of economics and finance, in compliance with the rights vested with the University.
