In the 10th edition of awards organised by the “Manager” monthly, prof. Piotr Wachowiak, the rector of SGH, was distinguished with a prestigious award of the monthly conferred by an award committee which includes Polish business leaders.

The President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Michał Jacek Rubaszek with a professor nomination

Andrzej Duda, the President of the Republic of Poland, by a decision of 1 June 2022, awarded dr hab. Michał Jacek Rubaszek the title of Professor of Social Sciences in Economics and Finance.

A special award for prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski

The editorial staff of “Rzeczpospolita” granted a special award to prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski for “pro-bono activity for media freedom in Poland”. Prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski once again came as the leader among the lawyers in the 20th Ranking of Law Firms 2022 in Poland in “Company and Partnership Law and Commercial Law”.

Professor Adam Glapiński elected NBP President for the second term

On 22 June, prof. Adam Glapiński was sworn in for the second, six-year term as the NBP President.

Dr Marcin Dąbrowski, SGH Chancellor, elected for the second term to the management board of the Heads of University Management and Administration Network in Europe

Dr Marcin Dąbrowski, the Chancellor of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, was re-elected to a two-year term on the management board of the international association of Heads of University Management and Administration Network in Europe (HUMANE), an umbrella organisation of more than 160 universities and institutions of higher education in Europe.

Dr hab. Joanna Rutecka-Góra, prof. SGH, in a research team with Netspar funding

A comparative research project “Pension Fees in the Netherlands, US, Poland and Canada” obtained Netspar funding (Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement).

Dr hab. Jan Koleśnik, prof. SGH, as a laureate of the 4th edition of the NBP President’s Award Competition

The work of dr hab. Jan Koleśnik, prof. SGH, came as the best scientific book publication in banking, money and finance in a triennial competition organised by the National Bank of Poland. The current, fourth edition of the competition started on 10 September 2021.

Dr Marek Dietl to serve another term as GPW President

On Wednesday, 15 June this year, the General Meeting of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, at its extraordinary session, appointed the incumbent GPW President, dr Marek Dietl, for another term of office. The GPW President is an SGH graduate and lecturer.

Prof. Marek Rocki awarded a medal to mark the 100th anniversary of civil service in Poland

A jubilee conference “In service of the State and the Citizens”, during which medals commemorating the 100th anniversary of civil service in Poland were presented, took place on 8 June in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland.

Dr Monika Maria Sikorska awarded a Second Degree Prof. Stanisław Skrzywan Award

It is for the 53rd time that the Accountants Association in Poland distinguished the best works in Accounting in Prof. Stanisław Skrzywan Competition.

Dr Karol Rogowicz with BFG President Award

Dr Karol Rogowicz, an employee at the Financial System Department, was awarded in a competition for the best doctoral dissertation in financial system stability.

Prof. Delong awarded the 2021 Gauss Prize of the German Association of Actuaries

Prof. dr hab. Łukasz Delong, an employee at the Collegium of Economic Analysis, received the 2021 Gauss Prize for the article „Making Tweedie’s Compound Poisson Model More Accessible”, a result of collaboration with prof. Mario Wüthrich (ETH Zürich) and prof. Mathias Lindholm (Stockholm University).

Dr Łukasz Kurowski among the laureates of a prestigious START 2022 Competition of the Foundation for Polish Science

The Foundation for Polish Science announced the results of the START 2022 Competition. Prestigious grants will go to 100 outstanding young researchers. Dr Łukasz Kurowski of the Financial System Department, is among the laureates.

Prof. Lech Kurkliński appointed as Chairman of the Committee for the Qualification Standards in the Polish Banking

Dr hab. Lech Kurkliński, prof. SGH, was re-appointed as Chairman of the Committee for the Qualification Standards in the Polish Banking by the Board of the Polish Bank Association for another term of five years.

Prof. Jacek Prokop, dr Marek Dietl and prof. Agnieszka Domańska in the economic experts’ team at the Ministry of State Assets

The newly appointed team of economic advisors to the Minister of State Assets of the Republic of Poland includes the representatives of SGH Warsaw School of Economics: dr hab. Jacek Prokop, prof. SGH, Vice Rector for International Relations, and dr hab. Agnieszka Domańska, prof. SGH, who also serves as the President of Stanisław Staszic Institute.

Decoration of the Government of Japan for prof. Marek Rocki

The Government of Japan awarded prof. dr hab. Marek Rocki, SGH Rector from 1999 to 2005 and from 2016 to 2020, with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.

Dr hab. Marcin Kolasa, prof. SGH, awarded with professor nomination

By the decision of 16 March 2022, Andrzej Duda awarded dr hab. Marcin Kolasa the title of Professor of Social Sciences in Economics and Finance.

Prof. Marek Rocki as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Polish Rectors Foundation 

The Supervisory Board of the Polish Rectors Foundation appointed as its member prof. Marek Rocki. The newly appointed twelve-person Supervisory Board of the Rectors Foundation will begin their term of office on 1 September 2022. The term will expire on 31 August 2026.

Dr Jakub Olipra of SGH awarded the French Agricultural Order of Merit

Dr Jakub Olipra, assistant professor at Economic Modelling Unit, was awarded the French Agricultural Order of Merit. The ceremony took place on 7 April in Warsaw, in the residence of the French ambassador in Poland.

The SGH Rector dr hab. Piotr Wachowiak, prof. SGH, accepted the invitation to the Climate Leadership Council. It is a programme that builds a community of real business change leaders to address the irreversible climate change on Earth.

Dr hab. Bogumił Kamiński, prof. SGH, awarded with professor nomination

Andrzej Duda, the President of the Republic of Poland, by the decision of 16 March 2022, awarded dr hab. Bogumił Kamiński the title of Professor of Social Sciences in Economics and Finance and Management and Quality Studies.

Awards of the Minister of Education and Science for SGH scientists

A second-degree individual award for outstanding achievements in organisation activity went to dr hab. Mariusz Jan Radło, prof. SGH, whereas an award for outstanding achievements in scientific activity went to dr hab. Marek Gruszczyński.

Dr hab. Ireneusz Dąbrowski, prof. SGH, appointed to the Monetary Policy Council

On 18 February this year, President Andrzej Duda appointed dr hab. Ireneusz Dąbrowski, prof. SGH, to the Monetary Policy Council.

Professor Roman Sobiecki on the Restructuring Advisor Examination Commission

On 10 February, the Minister of Justice appointed prof. Roman Sobiecki to the examination commission in charge of examination for the candidates to obtain a restructuring advisor’s license.

By the decision of 20 December 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Łukasz Delong, professor of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the title of Professor of Social Sciences in Economics and Finance.

The President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Adam Śliwiński, prof. SGH, with professor nomination

By the decision of 15 December 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Adam Śliwiński, professor of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the title of Professor of Social Sciences.

Dr hab. Łukasz Delong, prof. SGH, as Chairperson of the State Examination Commission for Actuaries

Dr hab. Łukasz Delong, prof. SGH, was appointed by the Minister of Finance as the Chairperson of the State Examination Commission for Actuaries.

The best “International Marketing” article

An article by prof. dr hab. Marzanna K. Witek-Hajduk and dr Anna Grudecka of the Department of International Business, Collegium of World Economy, entitled “Consumer intentions to purchase on foreign multi-sided digital platforms: A context of the COVID-19 pandemic” was found to be the best article in the area of “International Marketing.”

The SGH Rector awarded a jubilee medal for the 30th anniversary of KSAP

The SGH Rector dr hab. On 17 December this year, Piotr Wachowiak, prof. SGH, was awarded a medal for the 30th Anniversary of the National School of Public Administration, “30 Years in Public Service”.


15 XII

Three SGH laureates in the 5th edition of the Financial Ombudsman Award Competition

Dr hab. Paweł Smaga, mgr Aneta Bagińska and Aleksandra Królikowska of SGH Warsaw School of Economics became laureates of the 5th edition of the Financial Ombudsman Award Competition for the best post-doctoral and doctoral dissertations, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in Customer Protection on Financial Services Market.

Prof. Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech as a Rector’s Proxy for Cooperation with the EU

In 2021, the role of the Proxy for Cooperation with the EU was taken on by dr hab. Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech. The proxy’s responsibilities pertain to promoting knowledge of the EU and European values, including, by way of regular seminars for the students and academic staff and efforts aiming to strengthen SGH’s relations with European institutions’ representatives.

Prof. Jacek Growiec received NCN 2020 Award

The National Science Centre Award is conferred on young scholars in recognition of outstanding achievements in basic research pursued in Poland. In 2020, three laureates were chosen, including prof. dr hab. Jakub Growiec.

Prof. Jacek Prokop, SGH Vice Rector, as the chairperson of PIM for Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Prof. Jacek Prokop, SGH Vice Rector for International Relations, was elected the Chairperson of the Partnership in International Management (PIM) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Dr hab. Marcin Kolasa, prof. SGH, was appointed to a term of three years to the Advisory Council of the Society for Computational Economics

Prof. Adam Budnikowski as the Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the Polish Accreditation Committee

Prof. dr hab. Stanisław Wrzosek, the President of the Polish Accreditation Committee appointed prof. dr hab. Adam Budnikowski the Chairperson of the Advisory Council of PKA.

Prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski as the leader in the field of “Company and Partnership Law and Commercial Law”

Prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski and Głuchowski Siemiątkowski Zwara Law Firm, in which he is the partner, repeated their success in the Law Firm Ranking of “Rzeczpospolita.”

Dr Izabel Bergel and prof. SGH Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech with Jacques de Chalendar Honorary Diplomas

During the Economic Forum in Karpacz, at a session to mark the 25th anniversary of France-Poland Association, dr Izabela Bergel and dr hab. Małgorzata Molęda-Zdziech, prof. SGH, were awarded Jacques de Chalendar Honorary Diploma in recognition of efforts to promote relations between France and Poland.

Dr Hanna Kinowska as the head of the international VIRAL project at SGH

“Varieties of Industrial Relations in Aviation Lockdown (VIRAL)”, an international project, received funding from the European Commission as part of an Action Programme on Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

The President of the Polish Accreditation Committee appointed prof. Marek Rocki a member of PKA Advisory Council.

The President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Michał Brzoza-Brzezinka with professor nomination

By the decision of 27 July 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded dr hab. Michał Brzoza-Brzezina, the lecturer of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the title of Professor of Social Sciences.

The President of the Republic of Poland has awarded dr hab. Anna Szelągowska with a professor nomination

The President of the Republic of Poland, by a decision of 27 July 2021, awarded dr hab. Anna Szelągowska, lecturer at SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the title of Professor of Social Sciences.

The law firm of prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski among the best in Poland

The law firm Głuchowski Siemiątkowski Zwara is the leader of the 18th edition of the ranking of law firms in the field of „Corporate and Commercial Law” organised by the “Rzeczpospolita” daily. Furthermore, prof. Tomasz Siemiątkowski was individually selected as the leader in this field.

Prof. Dominik Gajewski in the State Examination Commission for Tax Advisers

On 14 May 2021, Tadeusz Kościński, Minister of Finance, Funds and Regional Policy, appointed dr hab. Dominik J. Gajewski, prof. SGH, as a member of the State Examination Commission for Tax Advisers.

Dr Marcin Mikołajczyk appointed as Deputy Chairman of the FSA (KNF)

On 27 May 2021, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appointed dr Marcin Mikołajczyk as Deputy Chairman of the Financial Supervision Authority. Dr Mikołajczyk will be responsible for the supervision of the Banking Supervision Division and will take up his duties as of 31 May 2021.

SGH researchers in working groups in the Bologna Process

By the decision of the Minister of Education and Science, researchers from SGH will be representatives of the ministry in working groups and the so-called peer support group in the Bologna Process.

Prof. Emil Bukłaha w IPMA Task Force Certification Global

The IPMA Task Force Certification Global on behalf of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) will be responsible for reviewing current, proposed changes and developing a strategy to implement new procedures and rules for a global project competency certification system based on the IPMA Project Excellence Baseline model.

Winners of the 2020 NBP President’s Award Competition for the best article

Prof. Małgorzata Iwanicz-Drozdowska, prof. Bartosz Witkowski and prof. Santiago Carbó Valverde have been awarded second prize in the Competition of the President of the National Bank of Poland for the best article published in the scientific journal “Bank i Kredyt”.

Prof. Małgorzata Iwanicz-Drozdowska with the function of Senior Editor in the prestigious journal „International Journal of Emerging Markets”

Prof. dr hab. Małgorzata Iwanicz-Drozdowska took up the position of Senior Editor at the prestigious International Journal of Emerging Markets in April 2021.

Prof. Piotr Płoszajski as the Leader of the Digital Banking Sector

During the 6th Banking Technology Forum Congress, the Banking Sector Digitalisation Leader 2021 award from the hands of Włodzimierz Kiciński, Vice-President of the ZBP, was awarded to dr hab. Piotr Płoszajski, prof. SGH.

Dr Pawel Zagrajek in the Aerospace Sector Competence Council

On 30 March, Minister Iwona Michalek, under the authority of the Minister of Development, Labour and Technology, appointed dr Paweł Zagrajek to the Aerospace Industry Sectoral Competence Council.

Professor Halina Brdulak in the Council of UN Global Compact Network Poland

Prof. Halina Brdulak has been appointed for a three-year term (2021-2024) to the Board of the UN Global Compact Network Poland (UN GCNP Board) – the world’s largest platform for engaging business in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Prof. Jakub Brdulak as the chairman of the team at the Ministry of Science and Education

On 18 March, the Minister of Education and Science appointed dr hab. Jakub Brdulak, prof. SGH, as Chairman of the Team to develop the preliminary and final model of tutoring within the non-competitive project „Masters of Teaching” (Mistrzowie dydaktyki).

Dr Jakub Sawulski with the Economicus award

Dr Jakub Sawulski won second place in the “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” competition for the best economic and business book published on the Polish market in 2019/2020.

Prof. Dominik Gajewski as the Judge of the Supreme Administrative Court

23 February 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda has appointed dr hab. Dominik Gajewski, prof. SGH, to hold office as a judge of the Supreme Administrative Court.

Award of the Minister of Education and Science for scientific achievements for employees of our university

On 19 February, during the celebration of the world of science and higher education - Polish Science Day – the list of laureates of the Prize of the Minister of Education and Science was announced.

Prof. Marek Rocki appointed as a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Ministry of Education and Science

On 12 January 2021, Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek appointed prof. Marek Rocki to serve as a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Prof. Krzysztof Borowski appointed to the Jubilee Committee of the Warsaw Stock Exchange

In 2021, the Warsaw Stock Exchange will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Among the dozen or so people appointed to the Jubilee Committee was prof. Krzysztof Borowski of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, who – as WSE President Dr Marek Dietl stresses – „has been supporting stock exchange projects for years and is inextricably linked to the capital market”.
