20 March

Historic medal for our judoka at the AMP

Mateusz Waćko, first-year student, won a historic bronze medal of the Polish Academic Championships (AMP) in judo on 15–16 March in Białystok.


10 March

As many as three gold medals for our chess players in the AMP general classification!

The Polish Academic Championships (AMP) in chess were held on 8–9 March 2025. Our varsity dominated the entire Championships by winning in three out of four classifications, and claiming the title of the best team in Poland.

Three graduates and the SGH Investor’s Club received awards and commendations in the competition of the GPW Management Board President

Three SGH graduates and the SGH Investor’s Club, a Student Research Club, were among those who received awards and commendations in the 11th BA, MA, and PhD thesis competition organised by the President of the Management Board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW). The GPW Foundation and Giełda Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie S.A. announced the competition results on 27 January 2025.

Paweł Wróblewski honoured for the best diploma thesis on forced displacement and refugeeism

Paweł Wróblewski, an SGH graduate and MA student, was honoured with an award in the second competition for the best diploma thesis (BA, BEng, MA, PhD) on forced displacement and refugeeism.

SGH student received an award and an SGH graduate a commendation in a competition for the best diploma thesis on public finance

Wojciech Decewicz, an SGH student, received an award in the first competition for the best diploma thesis on public finance in the category of BA theses. Mateusz Michnik, SGH graduate, received a commendation for his MA thesis.

Energy Week qualified for the finals as the best project of the year in Poland

The flagship project of the SKN Energy Week at SGH qualified for the finals of the nationwide competition for the StRuNa research clubs in the Project of the Year 2024 category.


30 October

Second place of the AZS SGH crew at the Academic Cup of Mazovia

On 27 October 2024, the Academic Sports Association (AZS) of the SGH crew took part in the Academic Cup of Mazovia. The crew consisted of Kornel Dębiak as helmsman, Julia Mierzejewska, and Maciej Sztaba. Despite the poor weather conditions, the crew came in second, confirming their skill and determination.

SGH students win 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge

On 7 October 2024, Piotr Gątkowski and Aleksander Łabuć, both SGH students, won the 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge – the largest space hackathon in Europe.

AZS SGH crew second in the 2024 Warsaw Mayor’s Cup sailing regatta

The AZS SGH crew came in second in the sailing regatta for the 2024 Warsaw Mayor’s Cup.

Two SGH female kickboxers on the podium at the AMP

The Polish Academic Championships (AMP) in kickboxing were held on 7–8 March 2024 at the Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw. The SGH Academic Sports Association (AZS) was represented by two athletes, Marta Pawlikowska and Natalia Zarzycka. They both reached the podium!

SGH team won the international IPMA competition

On 8 June 2024, Project Management students – Julia Tyborczyk, Anna Kucikowicz, Jakub Nowopolski, and Olaf Olszewski – won the finals of the international 2024 IPMA Project Management Championship in Florence, Italy.

Gerard Motak, an SGH student, awarded a scholarship of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements

For the second consecutive year, Gerard Motak, a fourth-semester student of Advanced Analytics – Big Data at SGH, received the scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Three SGH students called the “Brandstorm 2024 Poland & Baltic HUB winners”

In May 2024, three students – Agnieszka Jezierska, Wiktoria Grzywacz, and Marcin Filus – received the title of “Brandstorm 2024 Poland & Baltic HUB winners” in a competition organised by L’Oréal.

Historic medals in rowing at the AMP

Our student, Maksymilian Skica, won a historic medal in the general classification of the Polish Academic Championships (AMP). This is the first medal in water sports won by AZS SGH.

Our team dominated the IPMA Project Management Championship national finals

For the fourth time, an SGH team won the IPMA Project Management Championship national finals. There were six teams in the finals, including one from our Alma Mater.


23 April

Weronika Woś won a bronze medal at the AMP

The Polish Academic Championships (AMP) in swimming were held on 12–14 March 2024. Our student, Weronika Woś, finished third in the 100m individual medley.


17 April

SGH and University of Silesia students crowned Vice-Champions of the World Negotiation Challenge (TNC)

The team was composed of: Paweł Urzenitzok, Dominik Zdebik (University of Silesia), and Aleksander Łabuć (SGH) together with coach Bartosz Dominikowski, an SGH graduate. They came in second at the World Negotiation Challenge (TNC) in early April in the Netherlands. The Polish team, with an SGH student on board, reached the TNC podium for the first time in a decade.

SGH student Michał Kopacz with silver in the speed skating team at the World University Championships

Michał Kopacz, an SGH student, won the silver medal as part of the speed skating team at the World University Championships in Hamar, Norway.


13 February

Cezary Sternicki of SGH crowned junior Vice-Champion in iceboats

Cezary Sternicki, an SGH student, won a silver medal in the junior DN iceboat class at the World Championships in Pärnu, Estonia.

21 December

MA thesis of Mateusz Szysz, SGH, received third place in the competition of the President of Statistics Poland

Mateusz Szysz, an SGH graduate, took third place in the competition of the President of Statistics Poland for the best MA thesis. The winner received the prize of PLN 2,000 for his thesis – “Differentiation of mortality pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic in the European Union. Econometric analysis of data for 2020–2022,” written under the academic supervision of dr. hab. Andrzej Torój, SGH prof.

Magdalena Sęktas and her team win first place in the 2023 Econverse Cup ideathon

Magdalena Sęktas, a first-year BA student, and her team won first place in the nationwide startup 2023 Econverse Cup ideathon.


15 December

SGH student awarded in the Financial Ombudsman Competition

Marta Dobija, an SGH student, became a laureate of the 6th Financial Ombudsman Competition for the best post-doctoral and doctoral dissertations, as well as BA and MA theses in Customer Protection on Financial Services Market.

SGH students triumph in the Verba Veritatis Competition

A researcher and students of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics were highly successful in the 18th Verba Veritatis competition for the best thesis on business ethics, receiving awards in all three categories. In addition, our student received the Diversity Award.

Second prize and two commendations for SGH students in the Competition for the Award of the President of the National Bank of Poland

The second prize and two commendations were awarded to SGH students in the 15th Competition for the Award of the President of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) for the best MA thesis in the field of economic sciences.


4 December

SGH team second in Poland in CryptoBrawl competition

An SGH team, consisting of Maciej Sierakowski, Szymon Bocianowski, and Adam Siwek, placed second in Poland in the latest edition of the CryptoBrawl hackathon. In just four days, using a demo account, they managed to make a profit of USD 28,000. This achievement highlights not only their analytical and cryptocurrency trading skills, but also confirms the high level of competition within this hackathon.

SGH student wins award of the Minister of Economic Development and Technology for the best MA thesis

Nadia Sajjad, an SGH student, was honoured by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology with an award for the best MA thesis on contemporary timber construction and the future of residential architecture in Poland.

SGH graduates ranked on this year’s 30 under 30 list of Forbes Polska

The Forbes Polska magazine once again recognised the most talented Poles under 30, and among them were as many as five SGH graduates: Nikoletta Magdalena Buczek, Patryk Powierża, Arkadiusz Żarowski, Maciej Jarząb, and Paweł Jaszczurowski.

Lukas Kasica, an SGH student, becomes Poland’s Youth Delegate to the UN

Lukas Kasica, a BA student at SGH, was nominated as the Youth Delegate of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations.


23 June

SGH graduate among the winners of the Prize of the UOKiK President

Aleksandra Królikowska, a graduate with a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, received a commendation of EUR 5,000 from the Competition Law Association for her thesis, titled “Irregularities and Abuses in the Investment Fund Market.” This award was part of a competition for the best MA and PhD thesis organised by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

SGH students came in second in the 2023 IPMA Project Management Championship

On 3 June this year, Kinga Bajon, Urszula Grabarska, Agata Jancelewicz, and Ewelina Życińska, Project Management students, came in second in the finals of the international 2023 IPMA Project Management Championship in Valencia, Spain.

SGH graduates on the 2022 Digital Shapers list

The Digital Poland Foundation announced this year’s list of “Digital Shapers,” presenting 15 leaders of the Polish digital industry who “are accelerating the development of the digital economy in Poland thanks to their visionary courage to experiment.” The winners and laureates include dr hab. Andrzej Sobczak, prof. SGH, and several SGH graduates: Karol Górnowicz, Adam Niewiński, Jacek Świderski, and Małgorzata Walczak.

SGH students received the scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Science for outstanding achievements in the 2022/2023 academic year

Gerard Motak and Mateusz Michnik, SGH students, received scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science for outstanding achievements in the 2022/2023 academic year.

First and third place for SGH graduates in the 13th PTE Competition for the best thesis defended in 2022

The first and the third places went to SGH Warsaw School of Economics graduates in the 13th PTE Competition for the best thesis defended in 2022 in the field of social sciences in economics, finance, and management and quality sciences. The winners were Ewelina Kuźma, MA (1st place) and Rafał Pękalski, MA (3rd place).

SGH students among MasterCard Advisors winners

Kacper Dziatczak, a first-year BA student at SGH, won the MasterCard Advisors competition titled “Gen Z in the land of finance – Well-Informed or Lost?”

SGH student wins EconoMy Challenge

Piotr Zawadzki, a first-year MA student at SGH of Quantitative Methods in Economics and Information Systems, won the first prize in the EconoMy Challenge, an economic knowledge test organised by the editors of Puls Biznesu and Santander Bank Polska.

The women’s snowboarding section impressed once again and, as in previous years, returned to Warsaw with the trophy in the team classification.

SGH PhD student received commendation in a competition of the Polish Scientific Society of Marketing

Martyna Fira, a PhD student at SGH, received a commendation in the 8th national competition named after prof. Roman Głowacki for the best MA thesis on marketing, trade and consumption, organised by the Polish Scientific Society of Marketing. Dr hab. Małgorzata Bombol, prof. SGH, was the thesis supervisor.

SGH graduate and two PhD students are among the winners of the 9th Competition for BA, MA, and PhD theses in the competition of the Management Board President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW).

SGH students awarded in the 17th Verba Veritatis Competition

Two SGH students were awarded and one SGH student received a commendation in the 17th Verba Veritatis Competition for the best thesis on business ethics, organised by the Association of Financial Companies in Poland and Kozminski University.

IPMA Project Master winners from SGH

This year, theses of SGH students won the IPMA Project Master competition in the category of the best postgraduate and PhD theses on project management in the country and received commendations in the category of MA and postgraduate theses.

SGH students awarded in the 11th DIMAQ UNI

DIMAQ UNI is a competition for the best diploma theses in Internet marketing organised by the Association of Internet Industry Employers IAB Poland and SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

SGH students win global online marketing competition

A team of students from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics and the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) won this year’s edition of the Global Online Marketing Academic Challenge (GOMAC).

SGH student wins the main prize of the Polish Factors Association

The Polish Factors Association settled the 2022 “Golden Quill PZF” competition for the best thesis on factoring. The winners received their awards during the 13th International Factoring Congress. The main prize of the “PZF Golden Quill” in the best MA thesis category was awarded to Artur Czajkowski of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. “The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the factoring market in Poland” was written under the academic supervision of dr hab. Katarzyna Kreczmańska-Gigol, prof. SGH.

Commendations for MA theses written at KAE

The 3rd national competition for the best MA thesis on machine learning or data analysis was announced. The competition jury decided on two categories: “Methods and Algorithms” and “Applications.” SGH graduates received commendations in the latter category.

SGH’s double triumph in the competition for the best master’s theses in International Economics

On 3 June 2022, the results of the 8th edition of the Poland-wide Competition for the Best Master’s and Bachelor’s Thesis in International Economics were announced. This year, two SGH graduates, Michał Kulbacki and Enzon Tan, became the laureates in the master’s thesis category.

Mgr Michał Kulbacki became the laureate of the 24th Wincenty Styś Competition 

Mgr Michał Kulbacki came first in the 24th Prof. Wincenty Styś Competition for the best master’s thesis in Social Sciences in the academic discipline of Economic and Finance and Management and Quality Studies. Prof. Krzysztof Falkowski was the thesis’s supervisor.

SGH student as a laureate of the Poland-wide CSR Competition

Wiktoria Kaleta, a student of SGH Warsaw School of Economics, won the 9th edition of the Poland-wide CSR Competition organised by the Responsible Business Forum (FOB). In the finals, our student faced the topic of corporate social responsibility, including in the tobacco industry.

SGH graduates win the Competition of the President of Statistics Poland

On 28 January 2022, the Competition of the President of Statistics Poland for the best doctoral dissertation in Statistics defended in the academic year of 2019/2020 was decided. The competition’s laureates included our two graduates: dr Krzysztof Czaderny and dr Aleksandra Pawłowska.

The Competition for the Prize of the GPW President has been decided

On 25 January 2002, the GPW Foundation announced the results of the 8th edition of the Best Master’s and Bachelor’s Theses Competition for the Prize of GPW Management Board President. Two SGH graduates were among the best master’s thesis laureates.

Anna Maliszewska, SGH Warsaw School of Economics student - Polish Champion in Modern Pentathlon

Anna Maliszewska became the Polish senior champion in modern pentathlon. Our student won the championship title for the sixth time.


15 July

Distinction for a graduate of SGH Warsaw School of Economics 

Ewelina Ćwiklińska-Zięba, MA, was awarded in the competition for the best Master’s thesis in accounting.

SGH students on the podium in the European final of the CFA AI in ESG Investing competition

The AI in ESG Investing competition is the CFA Society’s latest international initiative, in which teams of several people were tasked with developing a proprietary index using ESG criteria (environment, social responsibility and corporate governance) and evaluating its effectiveness and relevance.

On 29 May 2021, IPMA Poland has announced the results of the national stage of the international IPMA PROJECT MANAGEMENT CHAMPIONSHIP competition.

SGH students as finalists of the Student Nobel Prize 2021

In this year’s 12th edition of the Student Nobel Prize competition, which is organised by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Independent Students’ Association, the prize in the journalism and literature category was awarded to Krystyna Kacprowska, MA, and Krzysztof Kutwa, MA.

Settlement of the BFG Competition for the best bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses on financial system stability issues defended in 2020.

SGH teams in the international IPMA Project Management Championship 2021 competition

SGH teams, consisting of students of Project Management, were among the first five winners in the national stage of the international project management competition IPMA Project Management Championship. This is the first edition of the competition in which Polish students are participating.

Success in the CFA Research Challenge

A team of students from SGH Warsaw School of Economics composed of: Piotr Izdebski, Jakub Erdman, Piotr Hościłowicz, Agata Kosińska and Łukasz Żarnowski, won the national final of the CFA Research Challenge competition and will represent Poland in the European preliminaries.

Jan Andrzej Kozakiewicz was among 362 winners of the MEiN scholarship for significant scientific, artistic or sporting achievements for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Scholarships by French Government awarded to Female students of SGH Warsaw School of Economics

Karolina Żurawska and Julia Jablonska have been awarded scholarships by the French government to continue their master’s studies in France.

Winners of the 5th edition of the competition for diploma theses on economic cooperation between the Republic of Poland and the People’s Republic of China

Twenty-four bachelor’s, master’s and - for the first time this year - postgraduate theses were submitted to the fifth edition of the competition.
