NAWA programmes

Information on projects implemented by SGH within programmes offered by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

SGH Warsaw School of Economics actively participates in projects offered within the framework of programmes aimed at the internationalisation of universities which are managed by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange - NAWA.

Among the ongoing projects, both organisational and research ones can be found:

PROM – Short-term Academic Exchange

With the start of the academic year 2025/2026, SGH Warsaw School of Economics has launched a new project “PROM – Short-term Academic Exchange”. Funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), the programme will strengthen the competences of students, doctoral candidates and academic staff through short learning formats: courses, workshops, internships and study visits, hosted at SGH and partner institutions: RMIT Vietnam, Kaunas University of Technology and Corvinus University of Budapest. It provides inbound and outbound mobility for 96 participants, including opportunities to teach and collect research materials. The aim is to enrich the participants’ knowledge and research practice, develop their linguistic and intercultural skills and build durable academic networks.

Inbound and outbound actions eligible to be carried out under the project: 

  • participation of students and doctoral candidates in short forms of education: courses and workshops,
  • participation of students, doctoral candidates and academic staff in study visits,
  • teaching for academic staff,
  • gathering materials for a doctoral thesis / scientific article for doctoral candidates and academic staff.

The project realised at SGH is designed and delivered by Patryk Dziurski, PhD, Prof. Wioletta Mierzejewska, PhD, Magdalena Suska, PhD and Prof. Alina Szypulewska-Porczyńska, PhD.


RECRUITMENT FOR OUTBOUND MOBILITY FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS AT RMIT VIETNAM

SGH Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) announces the recruitment of doctoral students from SGH to the PROM project, in frames of which their short visits at foreign universities are financed.

Applicants can participate in short forms of education at RMIT Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam). Actions undertaken in frames of the project:

  • participation of students in short forms of education: courses and workshops,
  • participation of students in study visits,
  • gathering materials for a doctoral thesis.

Foreign university, where the actions will take place: RMIT Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam

Date: 9-22 March 2026 (without two days for travelling)

Living allowance, travel expenses and scholarship:

  • doctoral students having a different title (e.g., employment contract) for ZUS charge from at least minimum wage in Poland for 2026: 13 050,00 PLN
  • doctoral students without having a different title (e.g., employment contract) for ZUS charge from at least minimum wage in Poland for 2026: 9 072,19 PLN (reduced by the ZUS charge (30,9% + 9%))


Number of participants: 8 doctoral students

Basic recruitment criteria for doctoral students are as following:

  • participant must be a doctoral student at SGH Warsaw School of Economics (doctoral student ID is required),
  • topics of activities under the PROM project are closely related to the scientific interests of the doctoral student,
  • positive credits in all subjects of the programme in semesters preceding the moment of filing the application (not applicable for first-year doctoral students),
  • very good knowledge of English (applicants should have at least B2 proficiency in English).


Criteria awarding bonus points for doctoral students are as following:

  • English language certificate (0 – 2 marks),
  • activities showing the engagement in research projects (0 – 5 marks),
  • presentations of research results delivered at domestic scientific conferences (1 mark for each presentation),
  • presentations of research results delivered at international scientific conferences (2 marks for each presentation),
  • book chapter published by the doctoral students (2 marks for each book chapter),
  • scientific article published by the doctoral student in the scientific journal (5 marks for each article).


Recruitment procedure will consist of 1 to 2 stages:

Stage 1. Selection of applications in terms of the fulfilment of basic criteria. The doctoral student must fulfil all basic criteria. In the situation when the number of applications exceeds the number of the scholarships planned, stage 2 is performed.

Stage 2. Evaluation of applications in terms of the fulfilment of the criteria awarding bonus points. The best applicants are selected to take part in the PROM project. 

The following shall be financed in the PROM project:

  • all round travel costs between Poland and Vietnam in the flat amount of 6 500,00 PLN; it is the responsibility of a participant to settle all travel costs, insurance and visa matters,
  • living allowance in the flat amount of 4 800,00 PLN (16 days x 300,00 PLN per day); it is the responsibility of a participant to settle all subsistence costs,
  • scholarship in the flat amount of 1 750,00 PLN (14 days x 125,00 PLN per day),
  • costs of fee of the short forms of education at RMIT Vietnam.

Information on processing of personal data by SGH Warsaw School of Economics

1.    Controller

The controller of personal data is SGH Warsaw School of Economics with its seat in Warsaw, al. Niepodległości 162, hereinafter referred to as SGH.

2.    Data Protection Officer

The controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer who can be contacted via email: iod@sgh.waw.pl.

3.    The purposes and legal basis of processing of personal data

Personal data will be processed for the purpose of recruitment for the PROM project based on Article 6(1)(e) of the GDPR* and the provisions of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science**.

If you are qualified to participate in the PROM project, your personal data will be processed for the purpose of organizing the exchange and implementing the project financed within the European Funds for Social Development for the years 2021-2027 programme, in particular to confirm the eligibility of expenses, provide support, monitor, fulfill reporting obligations, and undergo control or audit. Personal data will be processed based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR, Article 9(2)(g) GDPR, and the provisions of the Act of 28 April 2022 on the principles of implementing tasks financed from European funds in the 2021–2027 financial perspective***, as well as Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (processing is necessary for the conclusion and performance of a contract).

4.    The recipients of the personal data

a)    If you are accepted for the PROM project, your personal data will be disclosed to:

a.    NAWA, as a separate data controller for the purpose of fulfilling reporting obligations and in case of control or audit,

b.    host university (name and surname), as a separate data controller for the purpose of in order to enable you to participate in the exchange.

b)    If the controller uses the services of other entities, personal data may be disclosed to them on the basis of contracts entrusting the processing of personal data, and these entities will be obliged to preserve the confidentiality of the data being processed.

5.    Transfer of personal data to third countries (outside the EEA)

If you decide to take part in the exchange at RMIT Vietnam, your personal data will be shared with a university outside the European Economic Area. The legal basis for transferring data to Vietnam will be Article 49(1)(b) GDPR. The European Commission has not issued a decision confirming an adequate level of data protection in this country.

6.    Obligation to provide personal data

Providing data is a necessary condition for submitting an application and participating in the PROM project; refusal to provide data will result in the inability to participate in this project.

7.    The period for which the personal data will be processed

Personal data will be processed for the duration of storing project-related documentation for archival purposes in accordance with applicable regulations and project rules.

8.    The rights of data subject

You have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it in cases provided by law, and restrict processing. Additionally, if personal data is processed based on Article 6(1)(e) GDPR, you have the right to object to processing for reasons related to your particular situation.
No automated decision-making, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR, will be conducted based on your personal data.

9.    Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, if you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes upon GDPR.

  • participant must be a student of bachelor’s or master’s degree at SGH Warsaw School of Economics (student ID is required),
  • topics of activities under the PROM project are closely related to the scientific interests of the student,
  • positive credits in all subjects of the programme in semesters preceding the moment of filing the application (not applicable for first-year students),
  • very good knowledge of English (applicants should have at least B2 proficiency in English)


Criteria awarding bonus points for students are as following:

  • average score obtained in the academic year preceding the moment of filing the application OR score in the recruitment process to SGH Warsaw School of Economics (0 – 5 marks),
  • English language certificate (0 – 2 marks),
  • activities showing the engagement in research projects and university life (e.g., science club, conference, university project, university volunteering) (0 – 5 marks),
  • scientific publications (2 marks for each book chapter published by the student and 5 marks for each scientific article published by the student in the scientific journal).


Recruitment procedure will consist of 1 to 2 stages:

Welcome to Poland: SGH_Expert_Network

NAWA project “SGH_Expert_Network - building the capacity of SGH in internationalization based on a network of experts” (No. PPI/WTP/2022/1/00155)

Duration: 1.06.2023 - 31.05.2025

Funding obtained: nearly PLN 400,000.

Purpose of the project: building the capacity of SGH in internationalization, i.e. deepening cooperation with international financial and economic organizations.

The project focuses on 6 international financial and economic organizations:

  • Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development – OECD
  • EUROSTAT
  • World Trade Organisation - WTO
  • International Monetary Fund - IMF
  • World Bank
  • European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - EBRD

A key element of the project is to initiate a network of SGH experts, consisting of highly qualified SGH research staff, and to build their competencies to facilitate contacts with the aforementioned institutions seeking expert cooperation.

The project is part of the university’s current internationalization strategy.

Five main tasks were carried out as part of the project

Task 1. Identification of the needs of economic and financial institutions in area of expertise and cooperation with SGH, including the development of cooperation with SGH graduates,

Getting to know the Welcome Center of these institutions,

Task 2. A series of meetings

Task 3. Creation of an expert network titled SGH_Expert_Network

The SGH_Expert_Network has been created in January 2025 as part of NAWA project. The network is open to all SGH academics upon prior application via the MSForm. Applications to the network are accepted on on-going basis. The form is open and those willing to apply are welcome to do so at any time.

The project is implemented by the SGH International Center in cooperation with other SGH units.

The project is financed by the National Agency for Academic Exchange as part of the Welcome to Poland Program (2022).

  • OECD ECONOMIC SURVEY OF POLAND 2025 presentation at SGH - 4 February 2025.

    The presentation of the OECD Economic Survey of Poland 2025 was delivered by Zuzana Smidova, OECD, author of the report. The second part of the event was the expert panel dedicated to „OECD Economic Survey of Poland 2025 – towards recovery and sustainable growth”.
