Coopetition within corporate groups - scale, character, determinants and impact on performance

In the project, we analyse the complex relationships between subsidiaries within a corporate group. We focus on the naturally occurring cooperation between subsidiaries, as well as the competition that emerges spontaneously or when it is intentionally stimulated. The simultaneous cooperation and competition between different entities is called a coopetition.

The main objective of the research project is to identify the intensity and nature of the coopetition in corporate groups, along with its determinants and impact on the group’s performance. The project allows one to answer the following questions:

  1. how, typically, are the cooperation and competition between subsidiaries within a corporate group;
  2. which relationships prevail in corporate groups;
  3. what are the main determinates of coopetition;
  4. whether coopetition has a positive or a negative impact on the corporate group’s performance.
