As of October 1998 IRG has been conducting a business survey in banking, which covers banks operating in the territory of Poland. The survey is conducted quarterly. The subjects of the survey include: the result from the banking activity (net), conditions of conducting banking activity, the amount of generated profit, the quality of the accounts receivable portfolio, customers’ general interest in banking services, the rate of employment, factors limiting development of banks, capital investments, difference between interests on loans and deposits, PLN exchange rate according to parity (the currency basket), interest rates announced by NBP (general tendency), general situation of Polish economy, general situation of the financial sector against Polish economy, result on reverse-repo operations, the level of inflation and real money supply. A synthetic measure of the economic situation in the banking sector is the economic situation indicator constituting an aggregated measure of the banks’ condition.
