Bachelor double degree program between SGH Warsaw School of Economics and University Pforzheim – PFU (Pforzheim, Germany)

This double degree program is available to full-time students of SGH and PFU within the following study programs at SGH:

  • Globalny biznes, finanse i zarządzanie (governance) [in Polish]
  • Global Business, Finance and Governance [in English]
  • International Economics [in English]

as well as – at PFU:

  • International Business [in English].
Pforzheim University

Pforzheim University with its three faculties - Design, Technology, Business and Law - enjoys a first-class reputation. The faculties combine creativity with business education and technical precision. This combination also makes the university an attractive science and research partner for the regional and national economy. With around 6,200 students, Pforzheim is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Qualification and practical experience of the teachers on the one hand and intensive cooperation with successful companies on the other hand lay the foundation for the outstanding position of the university in the rankings. The University of Applied Sciences Pforzheim offers 28 Bachelor and 19 Master degree programs in the faculties of Design, Technology, Business and Law. It enjoys a high level of acceptance in research and teaching, which also results from a good support ratio. Around 480 professors and lecturers ensure that students feel well looked after in Pforzheim right from the start.

The close connection between theory and practice leads to positive synergy effects that lead to numerous projects and research approaches for industry and industry. The Institute of Applied Research, numerous Steinbeis Transfer Centers or the Institute of Jewellery Technology are just a few successful examples of this.

The university cooperates with more than 100 partner universities worldwide, is involved in international networks and gives high priority to economic and business ethics issues. The university was one of the first in the world to commit to UN-sponsored Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

Program structure
  • The intended period of study for the double degree program shall be three years (6 semesters for SGH DD students and 7 semesters for PFU DD students).
  • Double degree students from SGH will spend their third year at PFU, double degree students from PFU will spend their third year at SGH.
  • The grades of the different grading systems will be converted according to the table displayed in Annex I.

Bachelor thesis
  • In addition to the mandatory coursework at both institutions, as set forth in the agreement, the double degree student is required to write a Bachelor Thesis at SGH which is worth 10 ECTS.
  • The partner institutions assure the legal and organisational pre-conditions required for enabling the double degree students to start with the Bachelor Thesis in their third year of studies.
  • The Bachelor Thesis shall be supervised by one supervisor and graded by a reviewer.
  • The language of the Bachelor Thesis is English.
  • Part of the completion of the Bachelor Thesis is a defence of the thesis. The defence will be conducted in English.
  • The management process of the preparation of the Bachelor Thesis should meet all the legal and academic constraints of SGH.
Admission criteria
  • To be eligible for the double degree program, students must be:
    • full-time, degree-seeking students at their home institution,
    • have completed at least their first two years of study with a GPA (Grade Point Average) at the time of application that is greater than 2,3 (PFU) / 4.0 (SGH), and
    • meet any specific admission requirements of the host institution, including English language requirements (min. B2 supported by either CNJO competence test or internationally recognised commercial language certificate).
  • Each institution may receive up to 5 double degree students per year however this number is flexible based on the understanding that both institutions will strive to keep a reciprocal balance for the duration of the Agreement.
  • ​According to the Rules and Regulations of selection for international programs and exchanges at SGH, all students accepted for double diploma programs are not allowed to apply for any other exchange or program that involves mobility abroad in the given academic year. It especially refers to Erasmus, PIM and bilateral exchanges and international programs like CEMS MIM.

DEADLINE FOR DELIVERING APPLICATIONS – 15 May 2024

Documents required from the SGH candidates to double degree program include (all documents should be prepared in English):

  • A motivation letter addressed to Selection Commission to double degree program between Pforzheim University and Warsaw School of Economics (in English, max. 1 page)
  • Copy of the secondary school diploma
  • Official transcript of records (in English)
  • Document certifying fluency in English on min. B2 level
