The ALMEX project seeks to transform alumni engagement within Ukrainian higher education by establishing structured and scalable models that support institutional growth, societal impact, and economic resilience.
The consortium consists of eight beneficiaries. The Coordinator is the Higher Educational Establishment Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), located in Lviv, Ukraine. The consortium also includes four other Ukrainian institutions: Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU), Sumy State University (SSU), the National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (NUWEE), and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA). Three European partners are involved as well: VU Amsterdam (VU) in the Netherlands, Universidad de Alicante (UA) in Spain, and SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
ALMEX integrates alumni into key institutional processes, including curriculum modernization, student mentorship, and the strengthening of career acceleration programmes. The project leverages digital transformation through the deployment of GDPR-compliant CRM systems and data-driven dashboards, and establishes regional alumni networks abroad to support displaced Ukrainian graduates. Ultimately, the project aims to embed robust alumni engagement practices within national and European accreditation frameworks.
Project Objectives:
The ALMEX project aims to address critical capacity gaps in alumni relations faced by Ukrainian higher education institutions. The following specific objectives guide project implementation and resource allocation:
- To establish and operationalise scalable alumni engagement models, resulting in the development and formal approval of four tailored alumni engagement strategies for partner institutions.
- To integrate digital tools for scalable and sustainable alumni engagement, ensuring full GDPR compliance and the development of four fully operational CRM systems and digital alumni platforms at partner universities.
- To enhance institutional capacity through staff training and development, including the training of at least 40 staff members in alumni engagement practices and digital tools.
- To strengthen governance structures and policy alignment by establishing or enhancing four Alumni Offices and formally launching or revitalising four Alumni Associations, as well as integrating project outcomes into national accreditation standards through NAQA.
- To enhance student development through alumni-led mentorship, career acceleration programmes, and curriculum updates, engaging at least 140 students in mentorship activities and 200 students in career accelerator programmes, and updating 12 academic programmes based on alumni contributions.
- To foster international networks and support displaced alumni by establishing and piloting four regional alumni clubs abroad that provide sustained ties and targeted support for displaced graduates.
