BUP Mobility Grant

Key Information about the BUP Mobility Grant:

• Objective: To support international cooperation among early-career researchers and to promote research on sustainable development (environmental, social, and economic aspects).
• Eligibility: Researchers who obtained their PhD no more than five years ago.
• Funding scope: Travel and accommodation costs up to a maximum total amount of EUR 3,000 (managed and reimbursed by the BUP Secretariat in Uppsala).
• Project type:
  • a new research project, or
  • financial support for an ongoing research project.
• International mobility: A mandatory research stay at a higher education institution in another country within the Baltic Sea region for a minimum period of one month.
• Project focus: The project must be directly related to sustainable development and the Baltic Sea catchment area; all academic disciplines are eligible.

Required application documents:

• description of the research project,
• invitation letter from the host institution,
• CV (maximum 2 pages).

Key dates:

• Application deadline: 30 April 2026
• Project implementation period: between September 2026 and February 2027
• Announcement of results: early June 2026
