Erasmus+, bilateral agreements, PIM and CIVICA Engage Track

Information on international exchange programs

SGH cooperates with a very wide network of over 300 partner universities around the world. The most popular aspect of this cooperation is student exchange. SGH offers different exchange programs which include: Erasmus+, bilateral agreements and exchange with universities belonging to the PIM network.

It should be noted that the selection for Erasmus+ programs, bilateral agreements and PIM takes place jointly. Thanks to that students can choose from all available universities for which the student meets the criterion of the level of studies and language requirements.

Erasmus+: perspective 2014-2020

Within Erasmus+ program, students can apply either for mobilities for studies and /or internships in other countries participating in the program (i.e. in program countries) and in some partner countries from other regions of the world.

At each of the three levels of study (i.e. first, second and third-cycle studies) you can take part in mobility (mobilities) lasting up to 12 months in total. The minimum duration of stay for studies abroad is 3 months, and for internships - 2 months.

Which countries participate in the program?

Program countries co-finance the Erasmus+ program and take part in it as full participants. The 34 countries participating in the program are:

  • 27 member states of the European Union;
  • other, not belonging to the EU: Republic of North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Serbia, United Kingdom

All the rest of the world are partner countries that can participate in specific Erasmus+ Actions.

From the a. y. 2014/2015, the Erasmus+ program allows recent university graduates to go abroad for internships in program countries (this does not apply to partner countries). Mobility of this type may take place within 1 year of graduation, and its length is included in the total mobility capital at the level of study at which the student has been qualified for this type of mobility. Selection for a graduate’s internship takes place during the student’s last year of studies.

Mobility of people with fewer opportunities in Erasmus+:

In the Erasmus+ KA131 program, “individual support” as well as additional funds allocated in connection with the difficult financial situation and/or disability of students leaving for studies or practice will be granted from the Erasmus+ program.

Flat-rate co-financing may be granted:

  • students leaving for studies and/or practice, having the right to receive a social scholarship confirmed by the university, in accordance with the regulations of the university;
  • students with disabilities who have a certificate of disability leaving for studies and/or internship;
  • graduates leaving for practice, having the right to receive a social scholarship confirmed by the university, in accordance with the regulations of the university;
  • graduates with disabilities who have a certificate of disability leaving for an internship.

The co-financing is granted by the university within the amount of co-financing available to the university under the financial agreement for the implementation of activities KA131-2021, signed with the National Agency (NA).

Co-financing in the form of actual costs (based on a separate application submitted to the NA) may be granted to:

  • students with disabilities who have a certificate of disability leaving for studies and/or internship;
  • graduates with disabilities who have a certificate of disability leaving for an internship.
Bilateral agreements

The exchange within bilateral agreements is based on the exchange of students between SGH and overseas partner universities with which SGH has signed bilateral agreements. In these agreements, universities declare the number of students to be exchanged and the duration of their stay at both universities. Each year, the number of students is agreed with a given university based on the exchange balance, and the list of available places in a given qualification is announced before the qualification process begins.

The program offers one-semester or two-semester studies at partner universities. Apart from rare cases, most of the mobilities are carried out with non-European partners. The principle of the program is recognition of studies abroad as part of studies at the home university

Financial rules:

  • tuition fee waiver at the host university
  • student pays tuition fees at SGH if applicable
  • costs of travel, accommodation, insurance and subsistence are covered by the studentn
  • no scholarships available (except Singapore, South Korea and Japan - students can apply for scholarships offered by their governments)

Accommodation:

  • some universities provide a paid dormitory
  • few universities offer free dormitory to SGH students
  • in other cases - renting an apartment
Partnership in International Management – PIM

Partnership in International Management (PIM) is a consortium of leading international business universities which, in the academic community, is considered one of the most important organizations of this type. It was founded in 1973. The universities affiliated to PIM represent the highest standards in the field of business education and management, and offer MBA programs or graduate studies in management. PIM facilitates the development of international cooperation between universities and, above all, supports the development of joint student exchange programs.

SGH Warsaw School of Economics has been a member of PIM since November 2001. The consortium currently brings together 65 renowned business universities from all over the world.

Mobilities within PIM cooperation at SGH:

The program is based on student exchange at the master’s level between SGH and partner universities with which SGH has signed student exchange agreements. Each year, the number of students is agreed with the university (based on exchange balance) and the list of available places is announced before the start of the selection process.

Financial rules:

  • tuition fee waiver at the host university
  • student pays tuition fees at SGH if applicable
  • costs of travel, accommodation, insurance and subsistence are covered by the studentn
  • no scholarships available

Accommodation

  • Some universities provide a paid dormitory (in other cases - renting an apartment)

CIVICA Engage track - bachelor level

CIVICA Engage Track is an undergraduate program run jointly by universities associated with the consortium of the European University CIVICA - The European University of Social Sciences. The program offers first-cycle students the opportunity to pursue a study path focused on problems that require not only academic knowledge in a given area, but the solution of which also requires social and civic involvement.

CIVICA Engage Track is co-financed by European funds under the Erasmus+ European Universities program. CIVICA Engage Track offers three path options by selecting one of the two options:

  • Option 1: the student is obliged to complete the CIVICA course at the home university, complete the CIVICA course at the partner university and prepare a project (showcase assignment);
  • Option 2: the student pursues the CIVICA subject at the home university (SGH), participates in the European Week and prepares a project (showcase assignment);
  • Option 3: the student completes the CIVICA course at the partner university, participates in the European Week and prepares a project (showcase assignment).

Upon completion of the CIVICA Engage Track the student receives a certificate. The language of instruction of the CIVICA Engagement Track is English.

In the case of of pursuing the course at a partner university SGH students should apply for exchange at one of the CIVICA universities carrying out the Track. The application is carried out jointly with the selection to other exchange programs: Erasmus+, PIM and bilateral agreements.
