This Instruction sets out the rules governing the organisation and conduct of written assessments in first‑ and second‑cycle studies at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
- The Deans of the respective studies, as well as Institute Directors and Heads of Departments, are responsible for the proper organisation of written assessments.
- In organising written assessments, the following rules shall apply:
- The course instructor conducting a written form of assessment is responsible for ensuring the organisational conditions necessary for its proper conduct and, in particular, is required to:
- inform students during the first class of the semester about the form of the assessment and the conditions for its conduct;
- where the number of candidates exceeds 50, notify the Institute Director or Head of Department of the need to appoint an additional invigilator; the Institute Director or Head of Department shall ensure invigilation at a minimum ratio of one invigilator for each commenced group of 50 students;
- prepare an appropriate number of question sets corresponding to the number of candidates;
- seat students in the examination room, leaving every second row and every second seat vacant; where this is not possible, increase the number of question sets;
- Verify the identity of students taking the written assessment;
- Designate a place for students to leave their personal belongings before the start of the assessment;
- Personally collect scripts upon completion of the written assessment;
- In the event of academic misconduct, use of unauthorised materials, or other prohibited actions, remove the candidate from the room, assign a failing grade, and immediately inform the Dean of the relevant studies, who shall initiate further disciplinary proceedings.
- A student taking a written assessment is obliged to:
- Leave personal belongings (including switched‑off communication devices) in the place designated by the instructor;
- Students may keep on their desk only: an identity document, writing materials, tissues, bottled water, and other items permitted by the instructor, including items indicated by the Accessibility Office and the Office for Students with Disabilities;
- Refrain from communicating with other students and from exchanging question sets;
- Submit their script to the instructor in person before leaving the room.
- In justified cases, technical measures available at the University may be used to detect the use of unauthorised materials during a written assessment.
- Deans may establish detailed rules for the conduct of written assessments specific to their study programmes, provided that such rules do not conflict with this Instruction.
- This Instruction enters into force on 21 February 2026.
