The SGH Institute of Finance invites participants to the international symposium “VAT after ViDA”, which will take place online on 29 September 2026. The event is the third edition of the SGH VAT cycle. In 2024, SGH hosted a conference dedicated to the foundations of the VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) project and its anticipated impact on the business environment in the European Union. In 2025, VAT experts met again at SGH to discuss the progress of ViDA implementation and the opportunities and challenges arising from its application.
This year’s symposium will focus on future directions of VAT development in the European Union. Discussions will address new proposals for amendments to the VAT Directive going beyond the implementation of the ViDA package. The programme will feature presentations by Fernando Matesanz, President of the International VAT Association (IVA) and member of the European Commission’s VAT Expert Group, and Marcos Álvarez Suso, Head of the VAT Team at the Spanish State Tax Administration Agency and lead negotiator for Spain in the process of developing new VAT Directive amendments.
