Department of Risk and Insurance

The Department of Risk and Insurance (formerly the Department of Business Insurance) continues the tradition of insurance science initiated at the Warsaw School of Economics in 1917.

Its activities focus on research on the evolution of risk theory and on the specificity of the insurance market as one of the essential components of the financial system which has a great role to play in the process of shaping the economic and ethical awareness of society.

Problems such as the organization of an insurance company, its economic environment, management processes, distribution channels, competition on the market, and flexibility of response are the basic issues bothering the insurance community, and consequently constituting guidelines for the research issues of the Department.

The Department of Risk and Insurance also educates professionals and adepts as part of postgraduate studies in the field of business insurance and risk management, the financial security of the enterprise as well as ad hoc courses and training. They enjoy great, unflagging interest.

Continuing the long-term achievements of the Warsaw School of Economics in the field of research and teaching in the field of insurance, we contribute to its further development and connect science with business through our graduates, postgraduate studies, and conducted research.
