Strengthening international cooperation in risk management and insurance
On Thursday, Feb 19 2026, representatives of the Department of Risk and Insurance SGH had the pleasure of meeting with colleagues from the Institut für Risk & Insurance, part of the ZHAW School of Management and Law.
Our Department was represented by Prof. Adam Śliwiński and Dr. Łukasz Kuryłowicz, while the Swiss side was represented by Prof. Dr. Angela Zeier Röschmann, Dr. Jürg Portmann and Dr. Marcel Freyschmidt.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to exchange views on current research directions and teaching challenges in the fields of risk management and insurance — areas that form the core of academic activity at both institutions. We discussed similarities in our research agendas, methodological approaches, and the evolving needs of students and the insurance sector.
As a result of the discussions, we established a framework for future cooperation, including:
• joint research projects and scientific publications,
• collaboration in teaching and the exchange of academic experience,
• initiatives supporting the internationalisation of research and education,
• potential development of joint academic events and research seminars.
We believe that combining our expertise and experience will create strong added value for both institutions and contribute to the further development of research and education in risk management and insurance at the international level.
We look forward to transforming these plans into concrete and lasting cooperation.
About the Institut für Risk & Insurance
The Institut für Risk & Insurance is part of the ZHAW School of Management and Law in Winterthur, Switzerland. The Institute conducts applied research and provides executive education in the fields of risk management, insurance, and financial services.
