About the Institute of Human Capital

​The Institute of Human Capital is a leading Polish research and didactic unit that offers teaching programs in the area of human capital management for BA and MA (stationary, and non-stationary – both evening and weekend modes), as well as post-graduate students.

Institute of Human Capital

The Institute serves as a bridge between academia and the worlds of business and public administration. On the one hand, we provide practitioners (representatives of business, central and local administration, NGOs, labor market institutions, and education market institutions) with up-to-date knowledge and managerial skills. On the other hand, we present students with the latest good practices drawn from our cooperation with these environments. For years, we have carried out in-depth research on various aspects of human capital management, and our leading partner is the Polish HR Association. Recognition of the Institute staff’s expertise and competencies is reflected in strong interest in our highly rated postgraduate programs, including:

The Institute offers three interdisciplinary specializations: Interpersonal Competencies in Business, Business Trainer, and Business Negotiations. Institute faculty members regularly receive positive evaluations for classes taught in full-time and part-time programs, and many have appeared in SGH’s TOP 10 list of highest-rated lecturers in recent years.

Professor at the Institute of Human Capital of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, member of the Rector’s Committee for University Social Responsibility, and member of the Working Group for University Social Responsibility operating under the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy. 

She conducts research in management and quality. Her key research areas include sustainable human capital management, sustainable development, ESG, corporate social responsibility, university social responsibility, and integrated management systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. She has completed more than 20 research and teaching projects as both a project leader and contributor. 

Author and co-author of numerous academic publications, including on the evaluation of socially responsible business activity. She cooperates with business practice as a consultant and expert.

Dr hab. Agnieszka Wojtczuk-Turek, prof. SGH. Doctor of Psychology, habilitated doctor in economic sciences in the discipline of management. University professor at the Institute of Human Capital of SGH Warsaw School of Economics. 

She specializes in organizational behavior, human capital management, sustainable HRM, leadership, innovativeness, person-organization fit, competencies, and attitudes toward work, including engagement and job satisfaction. In these areas she has led national research projects (including National Science Centre grants) and international projects, including the “Sustainable Human Resource Management - Cross-Cultural Empirical Study” conducted in 54 countries. She has presented her research results at numerous national and international conferences (including in the USA, UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, and Croatia). 

As part of international cooperation, she completed research stays at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, USA, and Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, UK. 

Author of more than 100 scientific publications. For her publication achievements she has received individual and team awards, including the co-authored Polish Positive Psychology Society main award “POZYTYW 2020” for best scientific paper and the co-authored “Awards for Excellence - Outstanding Paper” granted annually by Emerald Publishing. 

In addition to publishing in journals such as Journal of Happiness Studies, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Perspectives on Psychological Science, European Management Journal, and Production Planning & Control, she is active in editorial work as Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly “Education of Economists and Managers” and as a reviewer-board member of Human Resource Management. She reviews papers for, among others: Human Resource Management, Journal of Change Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Human Resource Management Journal, British Journal of Social Psychology, and PLOS ONE. She is a member of prestigious scientific societies, including the Academy of Management, European Academy of Management, and European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology. 

She combines scientific work with mentoring for students and doctoral candidates. She teaches undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and MBA programs. In expert practice, she carries out research and consulting projects for companies and institutions. She heads the postgraduate program “Psychology of Management for Managers”.

Doctor of Economics. Assistant Professor at the Institute of Human Capital of SGH Warsaw School of Economics. 

Partner in a patent law office. She has been connected with human capital management practice for over 20 years, including more than 10 years in managerial positions. 

She has delivered numerous projects improving human capital management, including compensation management, engagement building, and support for business goals. She shaped HR policy in a fast-growing organization and led a project to standardize remuneration systems after a bank merger. 

SGH Warsaw School of Economics graduate. 

She teaches in master’s and postgraduate programs in human capital management, motivation, and compensation. 

Author and co-author of numerous publications in human capital management, including the book “Effective Compensation Systems in Business and the Public Sector” (2021), and co-editor of “Human Capital Management Under Uncertainty” (2023).

dr hab. Tomasz Rostkowski, prof. SGH - professor at the Institute of Human Capital of SGH Warsaw School of Economics. Leader of research and implementation projects, as well as postgraduate studies and specialist courses. Experienced practitioner - formerly HR director and management board plenipotentiary, CEO of a joint-stock company. Currently collaborates with leading enterprises and public organizations as an expert in strategic human capital management and strategic organizational management, project manager of implementation projects, and expert in designing and implementing complex changes in Poland and abroad, both at legislative level and in practical organizational implementations. Valued lecturer, including in the SGH-WUM MBA program on human capital management in healthcare. He promotes organizational effectiveness through integrating the interests of employees, clients, and organizations within an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to solving practical problems.

Graduate of psychology at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. Participated in a scholarship program in organizational psychology at KU Leuven University in Belgium. 

Her research focuses on relations between organizational models (including self-management and self-organization), fit in employee decision participation, and engagement levels. 

She conducts stress-reduction training.

Member of the Program Committee of the Managerial major (2nd cycle studies since 2016), chair of the Collegiate Program and Teaching Committee (since 2020), member of the Council of the Collegium of Business Administration (2016-2020), head of postgraduate studies in Career Counseling, Development Management and Coaching (10 editions), head of postgraduate studies in Basics of Entrepreneurship for Teachers, participant in statutory research at the Institute, author of own research, coordinator and expert in numerous projects in areas including: human capital management, effective organization management, economic education, entrepreneurship, change management, labor market issues, personal competencies development, teaching at all study levels, consulting and training/expert activity, author/co-author of numerous publications, support in event organization, and preparation of conference materials and reports. 

Connected with human capital management practice for over 20 years, including as a leader of HR teams.

Dr Michał Zubek - research and teaching employee at SGH Warsaw School of Economics, Collegium of Business Administration, Institute of Human Capital. 

Graduate of the Higher School of Trade in Kielce (managerial major) and the Higher School of Economics and Law in Kielce (finance and banking). Graduate of doctoral studies at the Cracow University of Economics and postgraduate studies in: Controlling and Corporate Finance, Social Economy, and Business Consulting for Social Economy Support Centers. 

Long-term practitioner in banking and in managing public-sector entities and government institutions in labor market and education areas, including supervision of EU fund utilization. 

Author of publications on controlling, finance, and intellectual capital with emphasis on human capital. 

His particular interests include valuation and measurement of these capitals in listed companies, including those on the NewConnect alternative trading system. Member of the Polish HR Association.
