Diaries - Competition organized by Institute of Social Economy

Institute of Social Economy has a long tradition of organizing competitions for diarist who keep diaries and memoirs written in times of crisis. In recent years, a number of competitions have been organized, which concerned memories related to specific collective experiences of Polish society. Topics covered by the writers include: inflation, experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic (two stages of the competition) and the problem of unemployment. The collected diaries are like a personal photo of a given period. Thanks to them, you can get to know the perspective of the writers, which is a reflection of the moment and does not contain retrospective interpretations. Such material is then subject to qualitative analyses. Previous competitions were organized only for diaries written in Polish.

Currently, based on the diaries collected as part of the competition: “Everyday life in the times of coronavirus”, the research project “Gospodarstwa domowe w czasach koronawirusa. Praca zawodowa, edukacja i wsparcie w warunkach niepewności” is being implemented.
