The student association for Ukraine’s Recovery

The student association for Ukraine’s Recovery emerged some three months right after the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The organisation rose from the discussions and meetings devoted to the current events and the post-war economic recovery of Ukraine organised by Jakub Karnowski, PhD for the Ukrainian students.

As of now, the members of the association are both Ukrainian and Polish students and graduates of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics. The board of the association is represented by its leader Yuliia Metalnikova and vice-leader Wiktor Żuk.

In the course of the meetings, under the supervision of Jakub Karnowski, PhD, students developed the plan for a publication conveying the students’ vision of the future of Ukraine, its socioeconomic recovery, and European integration. The eventual report was presented in autumn at the wide-known Polish conference “The European Forum of New Ideas” organised by the Polish Confederation Lewiatan which, among others, represents the stance of the Polish business to the European lawmakers. Besides the research conducted by the association’s members themselves, the report had been substantively supported by the economists from the Liberal Economics Unit at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, as well as experts from Deloitte Polska, Consulting Centre Infra, Institute Reform, and Osborne Clarke.

Clearly, the association is not solely focused on the research activity, but is a society that allows Ukrainian students to gather together and discover the history and culture together with the international community. Every student from SGH Warsaw School of Economics is warmly welcome on board!
