Human Capital Management Unit operates within the Institute of Human Capital.

About the unit

The aim of the Human Capital Management (HCM) Unit is to develop the concept of human capital management in Poland and in the international environment through conducting basic and implementation research, publishing and popularizing their results, transferring knowledge to organizations including companies, educating students and developing competencies of the working population, and promoting it in the socio-economic environment.
 
The work of the HCM Department refers to the achievements developed at the Warsaw School of Economics (and its preceding organizational forms) by past and present scientific staff tackling the issues of labor economics, personnel policy, human resource management, labor resource management, and human capital management. We propagate the concept of human capital management developed under the leadership of prof. dr hab. Marta Juchnowicz and we develop it by addressing important problems and challenges for the development of management science and practice. For the development of human capital management, we cooperate with scientists, experts, institutions, and academic centers in Poland and abroad. We popularize and publish the results of research and implementation work to ensure a broader impact on science and practice of HCM.

  • ​Human capital management in response to the challenges of today, i.e., sustainable development, labor market segmentation, revolution 4.0, networking.
  • Specifics of human capital management in organizations of different industries, sectors, of varying size and scope of operation.
  • Specifics of human capital management in managerial work.
  • The influence of the labor market on the quality and practices of human capital management.
  • Socially responsible and sustainable human capital management.
  • Development of education for the needs of the economy and labor market.
  • Management through engagement and for employability.
  • Experiences and well-being of employees.
  • Assessment, training and competence development, particularly managerial, entrepreneurial, social.
  • Career counseling and management.
  • Employee compensation system, in particular, its fairness.
  • HCM analytics and its effectiveness assessment.
  • Labor economics.

The most important educational tasks carried out by the staff of the HCM Department:

  • ​Participation in the development and implementation of the education process at the first, second, and third level studies. 
  • Supervisory care over undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and postgraduate students.
  • Conducting training and courses, consultations, and classes in postgraduate and MBA studies.
  • Active support for the program council of the management direction.
  • Development of the offer and quality of educational and training services.

The most important organizational tasks undertaken by the staff of the HCM Department:

  • ​Work in university, collegial and other committees and teams - based on separate appointments.
  • Organizing scientific and popular science seminars and conferences.
  • Creation and appointment of project-research teams.
  • Participation in the publication process of the Quarterly Education of Economists and Managers.
  • Cooperation with organizations and companies convergent for the realization of the Department’s goals.
