Bachelor double degree programme between SGH Warsaw School of Economics and Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (Kyiv, Ukraine)

This double degree program is currently only available to full-time students of KNEU within the following study programmes at KNEU:

KYIV NATIONAL ECONOMIC UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER VADYM HETMAN

Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU) was founded in 1906 as Kyiv Graduate Commercial Courses (in 1908 it became Kyiv Commercial Institute, in 1920 - Kyiv National Economy Institute, in 1992 - Kyiv State Economics University, and in 1995 - Kyiv National Economics University).
Today, it is a leading higher education institution of economics and business in Ukraine.  The mission of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman is to contribute to the development of the society by means of the scientific research, the generation and the dissemination of the new knowledge, and the training of competitive specialists and creative personalities. 
KNEU is a non-profit public university which committed to a high quality in research and teaching. The University offers different modes of study for a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs: Junior Bachelor, Bachelor, Master, PhD, as well as post-doctoral degree Doctor of Science (higher doctorate / habilitation).

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
  • The standard degree programme study period is 8 semesters (4 years) full time at KNEU and 6 semesters (3 years) at SGH.
  • KNEU and SGH students start the double degree programme at their home university. KNEU students will spend their seventh and eighth semesters of the double degree at SGH. SGH students will spend their fifth and sixth semester at KNEU.
  • The language of the programme is English.
STUDY PLANS
BACHELOR THESIS

Both SGH and KNEU students will write and defend their theses at SGH.

The supervisor of the thesis shall therefore be from SGH. The reviewer shall be from KNEU. Both universities can agree on a reviewer from SGH, if necessary.

The bachelor thesis at SGH consists on a one-semester bachelor seminar leading to the elaboration of a bachelor thesis and being combined with a thesis defence.

SGH students who are in the 3rd year at KNEU must complete the Bachelor seminar on distance under the supervision of an SGH professor. It is the responsibility of the student to find the supervisor who agrees with it.

The bachelor thesis shall be written in English.

The defence of the thesis is organized within 3 months from the date of its submission. To be admitted to defend the thesis, the student has to have passed all the exams resulting from the study plan (both KNEU and SGH parts).

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Programme candidates must fulfil the following access requirements:

Students from SGH who intend to opt for the Degree Programme:

  • must be regularly enrolled in the Bachelor in International Economics at SGH; and
  • must prove English language skills at level B2.

Students from KNEU who intend to opt for the Degree Programme

  • must be regularly enrolled in the Bachelor’s Programme “International Economics” at KNEU and
  • must prove English language skills at level B2.

Supplementary requirements may be applied in the case of candidates who are not Polish citizens or citizens of a member state of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland or the UK, and/or for undergraduate studies and long-cycle (or uniform) graduate studies in the case of candidates who graduated from high school abroad and obtained a certificate outside Poland, the EU, OECD and EFTA states, Ukraine, China (Gaozhong cerfiticate only).

Each Institution conducts the application and selection process separately in compliance with the regulations of the Cooperation Agreement regarding the double degree programme.

Both Institutions are committed to selecting students wishing to participate in this Degree Programme according to objective and specific criteria based on equality, merit, and ability. Selection will be mainly based on the following list of selection criteria:

  • Study achievements, course, and duration of studies
  • Previous research projects, as well as political and/or cultural engagement.
  • Knowledge of the language of study and the national language
  • Relevance of the programme to personal academic success, career prospects
  • Previous experience abroad
  • Other extracurricular knowledge and skills
