SAS is a sophisticated software suite for data processing and analysis, used by the largest companies globally. The academic version (SAS 9.4 and SAS Viy’a) provides students and employees, free of charge, with access to the state-of-the-art tools for studies and work in data integration and purification, data visualization, statistics, econometrics, optimization methods, advanced business intelligence, data mining, textual analyses, machine learning, and broad application of AI methods. Additionally, as the only university in Poland, the SGH has a real-time data analysis model available. Familiarity with the above methods and experience with their practical application are the most sought-after competences in the labour market.

Viya for Learners

The Viya for Learners platform contains visualization, forecasting, optimization, modelling and other similar tools. These are cloud solutions, so nothing more than a Web browser is needed. The platform contains ready teaching programs and a set of uploaded data on which one can work. A lecturer can log in first and then invite any number of students.

SAS onDemand

SAS University Edition is intended for use in the teaching of statistics and quantitative methods in a number of fields: economics, psychology, social sciences, IT, management and business administration, medicine, technical sciences, etc.

SAS University Edition contains SAS Studio, Base SAS, SAS/STAT, SAS/IML and SAS/ACCESS tools, as well as several forecasting procedures based on SAS/ETS time series.

Before commencing installation, all applications must be closed. This applies especially to virus protection and the e-mail client.

If there are any installation problems, SGH employees are requested to contact Technical Supported (T: 0 22 560 46 66; E: support@spl.sas.com). Students may contact Technical Support after exhausting their opportunities for assistance from lecturers and from administrations dealing with SAS on behalf of the university.

To install SAS:

Enter the Software page
Open the appropriate application version
Save all files to the computer
Unpack the files using 7–ZIP
Launch setup.exe and follow instructions

Software

The IT Solutions Support Team does not provide assistance with SAS installation and is only responsible for providing the software. We recommend reading “INFO_SAS” or “Instrukcja_instalacyjna_SAS” (SAS setup manual) available in every software installation folder.
