Report from dr J. Goodnidht visit at SGH
James Goodnight, President of SAS Institute during his visit in Poland took part in the panel debate: “Innovation comes from partnership” organized by the SAS Institute Poland and the Warsaw School of Economics – SGH .
The Panel debate took place on November 6th 14:30-16:30 at the Warsaw School of Economics.
Welcome speech at the meeting was given by Vice Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics , prof. Piotr Płoszajski. The panel moderator was Piotr Mechlinski, Director, Government & Industry Sector, SAS Poland. The member of the panel debate were:

Dr. Olaf Gajl, vice Minister at Ministry of Science and Higher Education `
Prof. Krzysztof Obłój, Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw
Prof. Witold Orłowski, Business School Director, Warsaw University of Technology
At the beginning of the panel discussion the short speech which took about 15 minutes was given by Dr James Goodnight.
The main points of the panel debate “Innovation comes from partnership” which constituted basic subjects for the discussion were:
Education
1. What are optimal and possible ways of development at the Polish Universities education based on innovation?
Academia–industry partnership
2. How close should be cooperation between academia and business in the R&D area
and how could the both sides earn more on the scientific research programs?
* Are there any changes needed in the specific legislation acts?
* What about intellectual property created in such a cooperation?
Future
3. What else would Universities offer for business in the future and what could they expect in return?
The panel discussion ended with the questions to panelists from the audience. The summary of the debate was given by moderator Piotr Mechliński.
After the debate the connected solemnities with the distribution of SAS Certificates , the First Edition, took place . The moderator gave the voice to the Prof. Ewa Frątczak who is a Coordinator of the SAS Certificate Programme - the Statistical Analyst SAS at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH). In the short speech she presented the cooperation among SAS Institute Poland and the Warsaw School of Economics and the place for the realization of the programme embraced with the SAS Certificate. The whole programme consists of 210 hours of lectures and practical applications with the use of the SAS software. 11 SGH students graduated from the first edition of the Certificate . Next Prof. Frątczak asked Dr J. Goodnight for the distribution of Certificates to students. Handing of Certificates was very solemn. To the end this ceremony Prof, Ewa Frątczak was honored with, handed by the Dr J. Goodnight, the SAS Professional Certificate for the “Excellent Educational and Scientific Achievements with the use of SAS”, what was a very nice surprise. To end everybody who received the Certificate posed for the commemorative picture .
