Main Regulations of the SGH Library | abridgement of the SGH Library Rules introduced the 3rd of September 2008 by the SGH Rector’s disposition, number 34. |
Collections available on site |
I. | To use the SGH Library collections on site in the Reading Rooms, in the Reference Centre, and in the European Documentation Centre are entitled: - SGH full-time and part-time students, (Polish and international),
- students of SGH doctoral studies, (Polish and international), - students of SGH post-graduated studies (Polish and international), - the SGH staff if they deposit their ID card (a student ID, a National ID Card) with the librarian on duty and sign up in the visit register; - other users,
if they deposit both: their Reader Card of the SGH Library and their ID card with the librarian on duty, and sign up in the visit register. The Reader Card may be obtained in the General Reading Room on the basis of a filled in declaration with the user’s personal data and a registration fee, according to the scale of charges enclosed in the annex to the SGH Library Rules (10 PLN). The Reader Card is valid for one year period.

II. | - Exclusively the following groups of users are allowed to study the B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. thesis:
1) research workers of SGH, research workers of other universities and research institutions; 2) users preparing their postdoctoral academic thesis – upon a letter of reference from their Collegium or Faculty Dean; 3) users preparing their doctoral thesis – upon a letter of reference from their professor confering a degree; 4) research assistants – upon a letter of reference from their Department Director. - A deviation from the regulations mentioned above may be applied only in exceptional cases, if the Director of the SGH Library gives his special assent in response to a letter of application submitted by the interested user.
- The thesis listed in the point II.1. may be studied only on site in the General Reading Room and they must not be photocopied.

III. | The Students’ Lending Library provides access only to its own Collection for: - SGH full-time and part-time students, (Polish and international),
- students of SGH doctoral studies, (Polish and international), - students of SGH post-graduated studies (Polish and international), - the SGH staff.

IV. | - All the students mentioned in the point III. 1. 1) are entitled to borrow books only from the Collection of the Students’ Lending Library. Every user may borrow 5 items in total, for the following loan periods indicated by the SGH Library:
1) full-time and part-time students – up to 2 months period, 2) students of doctoral studies – up to 2 months period, 3) students of post-graduated studies – up to 1 month period. - Every borrowed book must be returned by its due date.
- In case of a special need the loan may be renewed. The renewal may be done twice, only if there is no online reservation for this item in the SGH Library’s electronic system ALEPH, made by another user.
- Students are not allowed to borrow books from the Main Collection.

V. | - The online reservation function concerns exclusively the books from the Collection of the Students’ Lending Library, that are currently on loan and are not available at the moment of requesting.
- When the Students’ Lending Library fetches the requested book back, the item is available for the waiting user in the Student’s Lending Library within 3 days period. If the user does not check out the book within 3 days period his/her reservation is cancelled.

VI. | - The SGH Staff are entitled to borrow books from the Collection of the Students’ Lending Library and from the Main Collection through the Staff Lending Library.
- They may borrow 10 items in total for the loan period up to 3 months. The loan may be renewed in consultation with the Staff Lending Library.
- In case of demand for the borrowed book from other users the Staff Lending Library is authorized to request the item back before its loan’s due date.

VII. | - The persons with disabilities are served out of turn.
- Every disabled user may borrow 7 items in total, for the loan period up to 3 months.
- The user with disabilities does not have to borrow books personally. The disabled student has the right to appoint a proxy authorized to borrow books in his/her name.
- To appoint his/her proxy, the disabled user should introduce the proxy into the Students’ Lending Library to complete all the formalities. Both, the interested user and the proxy, should present the personal ID then.
- The rights mentioned in points 1– 4 of this paragraph are reserved exclusively for disabled persons
- who are indicated by the SGH Student Government on the list of students with disabilities, - or who can present the appropriate certificate of disabilities (disablement card, etc.)

VIII. | The only valid document that entitles the user to borrow books is: - the current SGH Library Card, issued by the Students’ Lending Library at the moment of opening the user’s library account,
- or the current electronic student ID.

IX. | - To open the user’s library account in the SGH Library’s electronic system ALEPH is required:
1) to present a valid student ID, certifying studies at the Warsaw School of Economics. 2) to fill in declaration with the user’s personal data and a form ensuring the observance of the SGH Library Rules, 3) to bring a photo (it does not concern holders of the electronic student ID), 4) to pay a registration fee, according to the scale of charges enclosed in the annex to the SGH Library Rules (10 PLN) (it does not concern holders of the electronic student ID). - The user’s library account must be opened personally.
- The SGH Library should be informed of every address changes.

X. | - The SGH Library Card is valid for the period of studies at the Warsaw School of Economics.
- The SGH Library Card / the electronic student ID entitles SGH full-time and part-time students, students of SGH doctoral studies, students of SGH post-graduated studies to use the Collection of the Students’ Lending Library.
- The SGH Library Card / the electronic student ID must not be transferred to anyone.
- In case of loosing or damaging the SGH Library Card / the electronic student ID borrowings will not be possible.
- The duplicate of the SGH Library Card may be issued only if a photo is enclosed and a fee is paid once again (it does not concern holders of the electronic student ID).

XI. | - If the loan is overdue the SGH Library’s electronic system ALEPH starts to debit the user’s library account with a charge for every book on loan, according to the scale of charges enclosed in the annex to the SGH Library Rules. (1 PLN per book on loan per day)
- Until all the liabilities towards the SGH Library are met the user’s library account remains blocked.

XII. | - Before leaving the SGH Library the users should verify their library account in the SGH Library’s electronic system ALEPH, and to report every variance with the reality. The SGH Library will not take into consideration any complaints reported by users who have left its premises.
- Only the registration of the check-out in the SGH Library’s electronic system ALEPH provides the proof of borrowing the book by the user.

XIII. | | SGH full-time and part-time students, students of SGH doctoral studies, students of SGH post-graduated studies, who are finishing their course, before the graduation from the Warsaw School of Economics have to return the SGH Library Card and to get a clearance slip signed away confirming that they fulfilled the obligations required by the Students’ Lending Library. |
XIV. | - The users ought to look after the borrowed books. Every noticed marks, tracings or damage to the SGH Library item should be reported to the librarian on duty before borrowing the book. Otherwise, the user becomes fully responsible for any damage noticed by the SGH Library staff while returning the book and not specified at the moment of check-out.
- In case of loss or damage to the SGH Library item the user is obliged
- to purchase a copy of identical or newer issue, - or to replace the item, in agreement with the Students’ Lending Library, by a book on the similar subjectand to cover its processing costs.

XV. | | Not respecting of the SGH Library Rules may result in partial or complete suspension from the rights to use the Students’ Lending Library. |
