Research project

Research work done within statutory activity,
own works and research projects of
Collegium of Management and Finance in 2008

 

In 2008 the academic staff of the Collegium of Management and Finance carried out research work in three groups:

  • statutory activities,
  • own works,
  • research projects (grants).

These works concerned two fields of science:

  • economic sciences including two disciplines of science:
    - economics, covering theory of economy, history of economic thought, theory of economic policy, public and corporate finance, and accounting.
    - management sciences

and

  • law sciences,

while many of these are interdisciplinary in character.

 

This interdisciplinary character causes that it is difficult to position particular researches in one scientific discipline, and this is why the division presented below should be treated as approximate.

 

Within the statutory activity 23 research subjects (21 in 2007) were carried out, including:

  • 17 in economics,
  • 5 in management sciences,
  • 1 in law sciences,

And also scientific journals “Studies and Works of the Collegium of Management and Finance” ("Studia i Prace Kolegium Zarządzania i Finansów SGH") were published.

 

Research subjects in the field of economics concerned mainly Polish economy:

  • structures of institutional economy and the role of the state.
  • management on regional and local levels, the use of EU funds included,
  • functioning of financial markets, banking sector included,
  • tax system, also as a factor stimulating or hindering the growth of enterprises,
  • companies’ functioning on financial markets.

In case of  management sciences the following issues were undertaken:

  • models of balanced consumption,
  • business in network communities,
  • corporate management.

The study in the field of law sciences concerned trends in transformation of administration entities in economy.

 

Within own research 73 research subjects (54 in 2007) were completed, including:

  • 51 in economics,
  • 20 in management sciences,
  • 2 in law sciences,

and also a monograph for the XV Scientific Symposium of the Collegium of Management and Finance entitled “For new economic order in Poland” was prepared (in Polish).

 

   Among the numerous undertaken issues the following deserve particular attention:

  • the impact of world financial crises on Polish economy,
  • the level to which the “new” European Union members are ready to accept the euro as their national currency,
  • hospital financing and functioning of the medical care system in Poland,
  • financial liquidity of companies after Poland’s EU accession.

The academic staff of the Collegium of Management and Finance realised 10 research projects – grants (8 in 2007), including:

  • 3 in  economics,
  • 5 in management sciences,
  • 2 in law sciences.

Research projects among others concerned such key issues as:

  • research on the quality of education in Polish universities,
  • transformation of Polish capital groups,
  • the role of intellectual capital in building an enterprise’s competitive strength,
  • co-opetition between businesses.
