About us
Foreign Trade and European Studies Institute (previous name Foreign Trade Policy and European Studies Institute consists of four departments and European Documentation Centre of the Warsaw School of Economics.
Academic staff consists of three full professors, five associate professors, six assistant professors and three assistants. Ipso facto the FTESI is one of the largest scientific and didactic units in the Warsaw School of Economics.
The aim of the FTESI is to improve knowledge of European integration and foreign trade. Our mission is to popularize trade cooperation idea in the unified Europe as a condition of economic development in Poland.
The following areas are examples of wide research interests of the members of our staff:
- macroeconomics,
- microeconomics,
- European integration,
- investment projects appraisal,
but also specialized disciplines like risk management, derivatives or euro logistics.
Lectures and seminars offered by our staff for Polish and foreign students are in Polish, and also in English, French and German.
The most significant names of our staff are:
- prof. zw. dr hab. Dariusz Rosati (member of European Parliament, foreign minister in 1995-1997),
- prof. zw. dr hab. Włodzimierz Januszkiewicz (director of the Institute until 2005, adviser to the Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy in the middle of nineties)
- prof. dr hab. Zenon Marciniak (the current director of the Institute, adviser to the National Bank of Poland).
