In his opinion the union workers, former opposition, was not armoured enough with skills to transform the  regime into free-market economy. He also remembered Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who had said that without the ability to attract people from different political walks of life it would be impossible to start this great act of change.

The President expressed his thanks to those who had supported the big reform in the past and to those who had it conducted. "I thank this school for changing our way of thinking by changing its way of thinking in the first place" - he said.

Addressing Leszek Balcerowicz present in the audience - he mentioned that without people of strong nature, strongly convinced about their own right and their courage to confortn their opinions and beliefs against changing moods of public opinion - this great act would not have happened.

President's appearance at a university was also used by him to address problems of today's education. "The key to success lies in a deep reform of our education and research systems which has to be able to successfully compete with global challenges" - he underscored.
