SGH’s HR ACTION PLAN SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW BY THE EC

SGH completed the preparatory work and published the HR Strategy Action Plan, which will allow to improve the academic environment at our university, provide transparent rules for the recruitment of researchers in accordance with international standards, as well as offer the best conditions development of scientific careers. This is an important step on the path towards obtaining the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ distinction. On 17 July, SGH application was submitted for evaluation by the European Commission using an EURAXESS platform. The results of this assessment will be known in autumn.
The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) is a type of internal self-assessment that identifies existing gaps and defines the direction and scope of implementing the principles contained in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (the so-called Charter and Code). Through the implementation of the HRS4R Strategy, research units commit to providing favourable working conditions, career development, mobility and transparent recruitment processes for researchers, thus contributing to the competitiveness of the European Research Area (ERA) and the attractiveness of the EU science system on a global scale. The European Commission promotes institutions that have received HR recognition among international organizations and scientists as those that provide researchers with the best conditions for work and self-development. SGH expressed its support for the principles of the Code and the Charter, sending its declaration to the EC on 16 April 2018.
Preparatory work started at SGH Warsaw School of Economics in late 2017. In order to implement the HRS4R Strategy at SGH, the working group for implementation (32 persons), the coordinator, the steering committee and the monitoring group were appointed in January 2018. During the initial phase, there took place 11 workshops of subgroups and three consulting meetings between the working group and the steering committee. In February and March, a questionnaire survey was conducted to examine the attractiveness of working conditions and the development of a scientific career at SGH. At the same time, in workshops of four subgroups the so-called gaps were identified, based on the analysis of recommendations contained in the 40 principles of the Charter and the Code, EU and national legislation, as well as internal regulations in force at SGH,. Using the results of the survey and gap analysis for areas that need improvement, appropriate actions and indicators have been proposed which are included in the SGH Warsaw School of Economics HR Strategy Action Plan​
