Internship Position at the University of Otago
Applications are invited for an internship position within the International Office at the University of Otago.
This is an unpaid position and would be ideal for a student who requires this kind of experience as part of their studies at their home institution.
The position will be held for 3-5 month period, although other options will be considered.
A start date of mind January 2012 is envisaged, although this is also flexible and open to negotiation.
While this role is primarily based within the Otago Global Student Exchange Programme team,
there will also be the opportunity to assist with the organisation of programmes for international
visitors to the University, the Otago Language Match and International Mentor programmes as
well as being involved with the International Orientation in February. In addition there will be the
ability to focus on specific project work during the period of contract.
The position would suit someone with an interest in and a commitment to the wider goals of
internationalisation and student mobility within a university environment. The appointee must have
the ability to work effectively and sensitively in a multi-cultural setting, to relate well to a wide
range of people and to exercise sound judgement in all aspects of daily work. Well-developed
communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to relate to a range of people.
The successful applicant will be provided with an official letter of contract that can be used for the
purpose of obtaining the appropriate visa and permit. It will be the applicant’s responsibility to
ensure they meet Immigration New Zealand’s requirements, and to arrange their own
accommodation for the length of their stay.
